Trance at Distrik
Was on my way downtown and I forgot my MP3 player at home so I was listening to Z103. They were live at distrik, and it suprised me to hear the following tunes, mixed actually quite well, despite being a little short:
BT - Force of Gravity (Tiesto mix)
Three Drives - Greece 2000
Above and Beyond - Air for Life
The Drill - The Drill
Rachael Starr - Till there was you (some mix, not G&D's though)
Few more I can't remember.
I was actually impressed to hear the songs, made me wanna check it out, until they switched to hip-hop. Just though I would let everyone know about it. They started around 10 and went until 10:30.
I was there briefly last night
I'm never going back.
Ever.
why would you be surprised?

Trance is the new euro in Canada. Unfortunately. It should always stay underground in my mind! But then again, this world is all about the market these days. I have to blame my idol for this one!

even if some gino kids pretend that they love trance ,i couldn't care less.
ANd i think they will never switch their euro dance gay gino beats to our underground trance, cause their girly brain would'nt take it.

I was dressed up!
My bastard friend told me there was a strict dress code! We meet up and they all have jeans on
After that I went all the way and poured a bucket of cologne on my head, bought a civic and lowered it.
If I was an unregistered internet junky browsing this thread I'd be so depressed on music that Art Garfunkle would be my only escape from the madness of the GTA.....

Trance, house, electronic music over in Europe is like Britney Spears or other pop/top 40 music is over here. Why dont ppl realize this when they preach about how trance should remain 'underground' ??? ![]() -jem- |
You guys prove why Canada is so far behind the international market for dance music. Trance snobs complain when people don't understand electronic music, but then you bitch when decent tracks get airplay on the radio or at mainstream clubs because you want it to remain "underground" and unique to just you. It's hypocitical. It's like pulling a rope from both ends... you don't get anywhere very fast.
Will we ever see anything like Love Parade, Sensation White/Black, or Cream over here? Will we see 40,000 people dance in unison to the same beats simply for the sake of GREAT music? Unfortunately, not with this attitude...
Things evolve... music changes and people need to adapt to these things... rather than fighting the change, we need to embrace it and create a new revolution. Imagine how powerful we could be if we stopped categorizing genres or people. We would definetly have a more powerful policital force if we had people fighting for the same things...
Education for our music and industry would be the most powerful tool... rather than tearing someone down because of the clothes or athmosphere they enjoy. Remember when it didn't matter who you were... we all just gathered for the sheer sake of good music? Far too many of us that were there when this all began have lost focus of this...

So i had the "pleasure" (not) of going here for a bit on saturday. Funniest and lamest night of my LIFE! In the crap hop room (where my friends stayed most of the night b/c theyre into that shtuff) I decided to ask the dj for some thing a little different and asked him to throw on some jungle or a jungle mix of anything.
His response....
"You girls on ex?"
Lol I died of laughter.
When I made it to the main room, the dj threw on Traffic by Tiesto, and these blonde skank whores started jumping up and yelling "omg tiestos new song!" I laughed, bit my tongue and walked away.
Never going back there again. The guys are SO rude...they just grab up on you and try to start grinding. So gross. Told a couple of them off just because its so easy.
Stay away, stay far far away.
