Question Whats owning at this moment"? Tech or progressive?

So, whats owning at this moment"? Tech or progressive trance?

We can read in interviews and articles where djs and producers say trance we'll become more hard and techish, but the real thing is, maybe I'm wrong, there are more progressive releases.

Lets take an example:
sander van doorn produced nowadays adrenaline, one of the best progressive tunes this year, but we know he 's more famous for tech/hard stuff like punk'd, dark roast and his sam sharp remixes...
in other side, rank1 produced top gear, an example where trance turns into more hard/tech music, I think rank1 is one of the produces thinking trance will turn more tech/hard in the future...

Whats your oppinion?

Mine is, I prefer the progressive side, with more quality tunes.

One of the causes to this happen is the decrease of quality productions in more pure uplifting trance, most people know uplifting trance formula is so superused and with not so creative innovations, and this open a chance to other genres gets more attention, like tech and prog.
There areproducers trying more prog, like M.I.K.E. has said...
example, his remix of plastic boy - twixt...

Maybe I'm wrong, and I wait this thread dont turn in a bash, war, of genres...

I've noticed that Armin is spinning more tech lately. Too bad, I like progtrance better also..

Depends what you define as progtrance.

I believe trancey trance will move more into the tech side of things, while progressive will move further into the housey house camp.

It'll be like the early 90's all over again! (one can hope...

It's all techno to me.

Oh god!

Please dont say Trance is going to become "McProg".

Well its been a nice 7 years Mr. Trance but its time to break our connections.

Tech just lends itself so well to live shows that its popularity should only continue to grow. Progressive is by far more enjoyable listening to at home, usually providing more emotional highs and lows. So in response to your post, I agree with your assesment that prog and tech are rising, while classic trance seems to be fading (relatively speaking). However, tech and progressive serve far different purposes in my mind and aren't in competition with one another.

Tech def OWNS meeeee

Posted by RebeL9 on Sep-19-2005 19:38:

let's just hope that tech trance won't go the way Fred Baker is going. Cuz that is plain shit.

Oh and prog trance is definetly not dead. Just check out the glorious label Propulsion Records with producers such as X-Cabs, Descent, Nicholas Bennison and Micah.

Prog. is definately alive and kicking if you ask me.. but on the other hand I see tech rising too.. so I dunno.. it'll be intresting to see trance 3 to 6 years from now..

Fred Baker is Frank Biazzi on cholorform. Fred has stole his sound by makinn him sniff the choloroform and whilst he is half dead robbed his presets...

I dont think its either prog or tech owning atm...
electro house is whats ownining the scene lately!

Posted by NuDarkBeat on Sep-19-2005 22:16:

pretty much all trance is on its way to certain death. the only reason trance still is around is because of the impact it has had in the past. the future is really all about prog music and minimal techno. so if i would say any type of trance be ruling i would say none because they are both still the same genre reguardless of the two subgenres.

I just get so confused between the distinction of elctro house and tech house, could somebody give me a number of examples of each?

Yeah = tech house?

I think Habersham - Dry Spell for instance is a far better example of real tech house if u ask me.

I always thought of tech house as perhaps

Yoshimoto- Do What You Do (Trentemoller Mix)
Tony Senghore- Peace (Sebastian Ingrosso Mix)

Is that right?
