i was a pearl jam fan when i was really into rock/alternative music back in the days .. i still say my fav bands back in the day were smashing pumpkins, radiohead, and nin.

I was raised on Pearl Jam and Nirvana. In fact, I work less than two blocks from the tavern where Nirvana played their VERY first show and where Pearl Jam later frequented.

Awesome, awesome band.

yeah but did u ever see them live?

Posted by flavdave on Sep-20-2005 05:22:

My favorite band ever. Saw them twice in 2003 and I have been following the setlists for the 2005 Canadian tour. I can't wait until they tour the US again. They are one of the best live bands, if not the best, still touring.

i keep forgetting about nirvana, and how great they were back then ..
i keep thinking they were late 80s (technically are), but never evolved around the states till the early 90s .. they are a great band ..

of course, everyone's mindset when they talk about seattle "garage bands" are the bands nirvana, pearl jam, and green day ..

i seriously think about green day from 10 years ago, and now .. a lot different ..

Ten is shit compared to everything they put out after it, with the exception of maybe Riot Act.

No. I was just a kid when Nirvana was really hitting it hard... as were most of the people here. (By "kid", I mean like 12-13.)

Kurt Cobain killed himself when you were 9.

yup

i read a book that pretty much says that courtney love hired a hitman to kill him that fucking bitch

some of the evidence that really stuck out in my mind is the fact that they had found that kurt shot up about 3 times the dose that would normally kill someone. that, and his heroin kit was neatly placed back in the box or whatever, so therefore... he could not have had the time to shoot himself up with a crazy dose of heroin and then put his heroin kit away neatly and then hold up the shotgun and shoot himself, because supposedly he would have nodded out in like.. 3 seconds or something.

but then again, when you're a heroin addict, what would normally kill someone else may be just enough for you, so.. meh

speaking of the "grunge" scene of the early '90's, i'd have to say my favorite bands of that time were...

nirvana
smashing pumpkins
pearl jam
alice in chains
and..
bush

He was alright, he sang the second verse by himself and the chorus for it. Definately a good show, and Bono was wearing a silly cowboy hat, and for a second I thought it was Uncle Neil (which would of been really amazing, but Bono isnt nothing to scoff at either) then you just hear that Bono voice laying a soft yell to the song which was just overpowered by Vedder's booming voice.

Good point. I'm tired. LMTFA.

Smashing Pumpkins > all other grungish alt rock ish bands.

Posted by flavdave on Sep-20-2005 06:01:

Oh yeah, for you guys who went to the show tonight...I don't know if you know or not but you can purchase the mp3s from the show at the Pearl Jam website. Soundboard quality. I've bought two shows so far and they sound great for mp3s, but I wish they would've have a lossless option.

har har ..
my flame suit has a parachute, so i land safely while being thrown off the cliff .. ..

the reason why i mentioned yellowcard, because while i was at the gas station filling gas in my car, they were playing that damn yellowcard song on the loudspeakers ..
