vestax pmc 46mk2... well its discontinued but a great mixer. cant afford a V6 or rane so i went with the 46mk2

Right now the Xone:92 top's the list, but I want to see what else is out there, available or not.

How's the Stanton VRM-10? Although I might have a hard time finding a rotary version of this mixer.

I'd go for something new and current. If you're from NYC I'm sure you know that the club installed mixers in the city are the Rane Rotary and the Xone 92. The Urei and the Stanton mixers are great I'm sure, but they're kind of on the dated side and I have yet to see them installed in a club in the recent past.

Urei 1620LE

http://www.ureidj.com/product_1620LE.aspx

Should be easy to find the new remakes of this mixer. Never used one but look interesting.

No EQ's, thumbs down. This mixer needs an expansion like the Rane rotary.

looks as uninteresting as a mixer can get to me. I'm sure it was club standard back in the day. But its 2005 and as far as technology goes, that mixer is dated.

I agree

Rane 2016 (not empath) with the Xp module (eq and X fader) is a good bet

Posted by Ryan0751 on Sep-21-2005 10:29:

Nice, but only 3 channels

I think the Xone 92 is the best right now... you get a very high quality, great sounding 4 channel mixer with EQ's, filters, crossfader, gain LED's (yes, the UREI and some Rane's are without LED's), AND you get rotary faders.

I'm getting one for myself for my 30th in December

Build your own...

But yeah I'd probably say Xone:92, eq's still too close together on that mixer though it's the only problem with it! other than that it's perfect!

in no particular order

Allen & Heath Xone V6 w/options

Allen & Heath Xone S6 w/options

Allen & Heath Xone 092 Rotary

Crest Audio CP6210 + CP6220 Xpansion

Rane Empath Rotary

Rane MP2016A + XP2016A

Pioneer DJM1000 W/DJC-1000RV Rotary Kit

good possibility that Allen & Heath Xone 3D will see a rotary version in the near future.

Cheers...

One other possibility are the new Denon 19" rack mount mixers, they aren't shipping yet but they have rotary options. I think they are in the $500USD price range as well.

a linear mixer with rotary kit is not as good as a true rotary mixer.

Posted by cryo on Sep-21-2005 19:25:

vlad just go get the V6

I know that with the Pioneer DJM-1000, its directly ordered from the manufacturer with the rotary knobs built in. They have face plates designed for a rotary version of the mixer, except the rotary version isnt really advertised.

What I did do is email A&H with an inquiry about getting the Xone:92 a drop customized. If it can be done...

a. Im selling my Xone:62 ASAP
b. expect me to be the only person in the world with this version of the mixer.

Do you have $4000 to give me? Im not looking to drop that much loot on a mixer. That mixer is absolutely silly to own in a bedroom.

Definitely the 92 over the Rane.

Had a chance of testing the Allen&Heath's V6..have to say that
i almost wetted my pants. Only bad thing is the horrible price.
IMO best rotary mixer in the planet right now, but the XONE 92 is also
a very very good mixer too. And will be my choice when i have to
upgrade my DJM600.

I have yet to play with that mixer, one day... one day.

what about The Xone:S6 from allen and heath it is like the v6 save for the valve preamps

rotary vs linear?

well, i'm all used to mixing on linear fader channels.
any advantages, preferences, biases for using rotary knobs instead?

when i think about it, seems like it'd be a bit of a pain in the ass to do quick movements on the rotary knobs unlike the linear ones.

I think linear caters better to trance & techno DJ's, which is what I started out in, than moved out and into House. Now although there are transitions within the house genre that you might want to mix quick... with a rotary I feel like Id have more control and much smooooother transitions. Personally I like long transitions, and those are hard to pull off with a linear mixer.
