Programs to erase vocals from tracks or extract?

Does anyone know any fairly common programs that can be used to remove the vocals from a track so that the instrumental version can be heard and vice versa, is there a program that allows someone to remove all the music/effects from a track so that only the vocals are left without any music being played? I would like to make some mash-ups but I'm very new to this.

erasing vocals from tracks is possible, but not always with a good result to the track. extracting vocals is totally impossible. good luck

EQing and Gating, that's the only way. It is impossible to do this automatically, so you just gonna have to sit down with the tune and think it through.

It is acctually next to impossible.

Lol.. Yeah we should make a sticky regarding this particular question titled "You cannot extract vocals from a fucking track retard (more info inside)..."

hey hey hey im new I'm sorry. Just as a question, how do DJs like Armin van Buuren make mashups like As the Rush Comes to Amazon or Zocalo vs Fix You. I can't hear the original melodies from the songs that the vocals came from.

They get the vocals from the artist who made the track. They get the remixpack. They don't just "cut it out".

Yes, exactly. It's not hard for a professional producer signed on a well-known label to get the acapella for a track - if the original track was signed on the same label, it's a piece of cake, and if the original track was signed on a different label, then that label will take royalties from the remix.

The sad part is that some of these bootleg remixes actually get signed by the label that released the original. But more often than that you'll just get into trouble with the copyright laws if they find out about it.

I wouldn't know.. because I havn't heard the original and neither do i keep up with Coldplay so there could be a contest or something, but the vocals do sound clear.

okay let's make one thing clear here, it is theoretically possible to cut out an acapella from a track but in reality the result will be so crappy that it will sound horrible.

do a search and you'll find out how to do it in theory and try it for yourself and you'll know why it's not worth the work
