Hello people,

I would just like to ask anyone if they know what is wrong with my mixer..

The problem is that my mixer puts out loud then soft volume in this re-occurring order. It lasts for about 5 seconds every 10-20 seconds, and sometimes it doesnt happen at all..

I know it isnt my speakers/amp or CD players, because the same problem occured at a friends house on his speakers and CD Players which are brand new.

So does anyone know what i can do or what is the problem?

try checking your power source...

if it has a switchable voltage setting, it could be the problem too

Not really enough info. What mixer do you have? How old is it? How well used is it? It could be that you have dodgy faders or something. If the mixer is new, it should still be under guarantee, so get it replaced. If it is old, the faders might be worn. If they are replaceable faders, try getting them replaced. If you don't have replaceable faders, and it turns out that the faders are worn, then I'm afraid you need a new mixer!

While we are on the topic of "dodgy faders" i have a Roland dj-1000 and i know they are replaceable faders...the problem I'm having is that i cannot completely fade my fader into the 2nd channel, if i do, the sound from the 1st channel is heard momentarily..as a result, i have to make sure i dont "fade in" completely into the 2nd channel...any advice DJTC??

Visions, all I can suggest is to replace the fader as the problem is blatantly a wear issue. However I do have a solution which will give new life to old faders. when you unscrew the plate which holds it in place and remove the xfader itself , you can if you are careful take the thing apart. If you then take a tissue with either switch cleaning fluid or simply cleaning alcohol and wipe down all the connecting surfaces you might just not need to replce as dirt can commonly be the problem. In future i recommend the cleaner you keep the mixer the longer it will last - ie don't skin up on the mixer etc. Good luck i Hope this helped

So its the crossfader which is the problem?
Because i switched off the X-fader off on both sides and the problem still came up.. then i thought its not the crossfadre.. but i guess that doesnt conclude that my crossfader doesnt need replacing..

So i think i should replace the crossfader with a new one.. but before that ill try DJ Rann's cleaning technique..

And to DJ_Shockwav..
my mixer has changeable voltage, but how does this affect my mixer?

Mega, if the volume is going up and down without you anything then your problemmo seems to be internal (probably the power supply/ transformer). Check the channel faders too. while music is playing through thr channels, move the faders up and down and check for noticible unwanted volume crackles or jumps. If so then remove the face plate of the mixer (switch it off first + unplug it) and it is possible to do the same cleaning method to the faders. You might have do some soldering and if you haven't done this many times and are good at it the the only thing I can suggest is buying a new mixer. This might be for the best anyway, as it's not guaranteed that this is the exact problem. Usually when mixers break and it aint the faders: it's time to buy a new one, but good luck, and I hope you find a solution.RANN.
