DJ Maxik - Dance Mega Mix 2005

After two years of preparing and planning I have finally releases a brand new mix. This mix is very unique in many different ways (mainly because this is a "Dance" mix). All of my previous mixes were strictly "Trance". It also contains a lot of songs (23). Lastly, this is an international mix which features songs and artists from different countries around the globe.

First of all, I like to think of this mix as an appetizer. There are 23 tracks on 1 CD! I realized that listening to Dance music at home is different than dancing to it at a club. I also wanted to include as many songs as possible. Therefore, I picked out the best parts of each song, and put just that part on the CD.

Second, this is my first time mixing strictly "Dance" music. At the beginning it was very hard for me to get used to. I'm very familiar with mixing Trance where long transitions and EQ modifications are common. In dance music it's really all about timing, quick fades, and effects. Fifty percent of this compilation is mixed, and the other 50 is compiled on a computer.

Lastly, and the most important reason I made this mix is because it is International and features several themes. It starts off with a happy and funny remix of an old track which was recently featured in a Hollywood production "Madagascar". Next it is followed by a popular Brazilian song "Magalenha" also remixed. After that, the theme of "New York Club Night" begins with tracks 3-7. From there we move on to the "European" theme which begins with tracks 8-12. Starting from track 13, a new theme is introduced, and the founder of that theme has to be "Benny Benassi", an Italian DJ and Producer who dominated the dance theme with his unique style of heavy bass and old-skool synth. That theme ends with an old popular French song "Tu es foutu". Starting from Track 17 is the "Russian Dance" theme. Finally, the last theme on this CD is the "Greek" theme, with the catchy strings and Mediterranean style.

You can REALLY tell that the US Dance music has nothing on the Euro Dance music. The sound, and whole atmosphere is way different. I'll take eurodance anyday. Its sooo much more upbeat and sounds great.

This is still a great mix

Thanks Rich, but what I tried to do with this mix was to capture several themes. I mixed dance music from all over the globe on that CD. A lot of the tracks were made by European producers.

I think the eurodance genre changed overtime. Back in 90s it had a much different sound than it has today (in my oppinion)...i mean the artists like E-Rotic, Masterboy, Capella...they can't be matched If not for them, I don't think there would even be Trance.

And I will agree with you 100% even two-fold. But all I am saying it that the US and Euro Dance sound is different. Even in our modern times. You can just hear the difference.

I think you did a stellar job bro.
