...just look at the traffic, I wouldn't want to be stuck in a car during a hurricane... Might get really ugly!!!

This is an evacuation of only 2.5 Million people.. have any of you thought of an even bigger evacuation for a real city !?!?!..Imagine the chaos a Chemical weapon would cause.. this type of emergency in a state like NEw York, hell even Miami.. evacuate it all.. just think about it. This is scary thought.

Cat 2 doesn't mean it's not destructive and dangerous/deadly. Not to mention the outcry and political fallout that would've ensued had officials not given an evacuation order, given what happened with Katrina so recently. It is a lose-lose proposition. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

It was a 3 when it hit land. Impossible to know beforehand too, could just as well have been a huge disaster. All credit to the ppl that were in traffic for 18 hours to get out of there, it defenetly helped minimizing the damage of this hurricane.
