Firstly, what a terrible game it was! An absolute abhorrent show lacking skill and effort it seemed, bar a couple (Judd, Kerr, Buchanan, Chick... a couple others). I mean, for example Gardner, he was terrible! The first quarter, "misjudging" to put it nicely 3 attempts at a mark and going under the ball... shocking. And as for some of the players ground skills...
That said, I still have to rant about Sydney. I totally think their style of play is a detriment. I mean, look at the scores, 58 - 54... 1. Flooding... I mean WC had no forward to kick to, but putting your whole team in the defensive 50... leads to no goals and a really ugly game. 2. Their chipping around mentality. Another thing that leads to a frustrating game. A game should be free flowing, should see big marks and good scrumming, and flooding doesn't allow this.
I really hope the rules are changed, because this is ****. Sorry, but I hate Sydney, their gameplay and their colours. I'm an Essendon supporter, and somethings gotta be wrong if I hate Sydney more than Collingwood.

Oh yeah, and when Hall clotheslined Wirrapunda, I went ballistic. If that was me, and I weighed more than him, I would've knocked him out. C*nt! He should've been suspended in the first place.
I watched the 2nd and 4th quarters, first time i've seen an AFL game. was good fun to watch
the Commentators are hilarious - "these courageous men", "warriors", - they are football players not war hero's 
go the swans!! great win, now i cant wait for next year when the pies take home the cup

twas what a final should be, tight and in the balance until late in the game. great gray by leo barry to save the day. Judd was awesome for a losing team, kennelly was my pick for swanwns best

I watched the game at the aussis rules club in the cross and it was pretty funny in there.
There was certainly some happy people.

im happy the swannies won. it was their turn. their fans can now rest in peace after 72 years.
congrats sydney. woefull game, great result. judd deserved norm smith, class acts go up another level in the big ones aka dermie. and fucking leo barry taking mark of the year (better than the mcpharlin grab imo) - with the very last mark of the year.
was a really entertaining game.. not particularly appealing due to the quality of footy, but still a great grand final.. and as for that poll on afl.com.au 'was the 2005 grandfinal better then 1989' what a load of shit.. nowhere near as good.
leo barry's mark was fantastic

agreed soups, as a spectacle it wasn't very flash. but the tightness was what made it entertaining in the end.
highlights/lowlights for me:
judd's explosive 11 clearances
cox kickin that 55m goal on the run
barry's mark
o'loughlin squandering so many chances
ablett doin a "rhys shaw"
kennelly killin it with that run of his
and the lamb and cheese rissoles at halftime.
Was dissapointed there werent more dukish marks.

Judd full pelt, one hand pick up, break the pack...thats what footy is about.
If both teams kicked straighter the scoreline would have been different. Woeful kicking by both teams especially O'loughin. Though i reckon you guys in here would still be whinging even if the scoreline was higher. I think i would too if my team wasn't in the grand final.

Sat nite in melbourne was a fucken disaster. Just full of pissed dumb kants, very annoying!
cox's goal and barry's mark at the end were definately the highlights of the game...
judd was awesome.. and cousins must've done well to get 25touches, but i didnt notice him all that much...
overall - very entertaining grand final, but mostly because of the score rather then the skill..

Ended up taking an hour just to get a cab... I couldn't wait for all the tourists to go home.
