I got my first gig!!!

About 3 weeks ago at the University of Central Florida here in Orlando there was an event called Late Knight. My cousin who goes there told me that the last Late night had a a DJ playing EDM so I figured I would go, to what I thought was a small party, and see if the DJ would let me get some time to mix. So I went that night and quickly realized it wasn't a small party but an event where any student on campus could attend. The DJ had his own stage and everything so I asked if I could go up and speak with him. I was allowed to so me and the DJ chatted a bit and it was understood that if there was enough time I could do some short mixing. At this point while I was on stage I was really getting pumped, I couldn't wait. Anyways in the end the DJ had to stop to let the band play and I did not get my time to shine. I didn't let it get me down though so I found the organizer of the event and told him about myself and that I really wanted to get a gig. He told me that he was definatly up for new acts so he asked me for a demo.

I had never done a demo before so I was a bit nervous about how I should make one but one day after school I just turned on all my shit and recorded a perfect set on my first try. I gave the demo to him and waited for a call, I waited, and waited some more. Today I finally got that call.

I'm 100% booked for the next Late Knight on October 22 with a whole room devoted to EDM music. he asked me to bring my own equipment so he could save money to rent a lighting system. My name is going to be on flyers around campus and everything! I'm so fucking excited I can't wait. If anyone lives close to UCF come down and watch me trainwreck in front of a live crowd for the first time haha!!!! Wish me luck!

I don't mix harmonically but I do try and mix songs that sound good together. I have 2 Technics MK5s with whitelabels and a Denon DN-X400 mixer. Not the best mixer in the world but it gets the job done.
