Love Poundin' Sensation Love Parade Review...

Kickass, yes? I'm too tired to write anything else tonight... I didn't leave the S-float once. Well, except to find a restroom and get water.

Posted by DaveT on Sep-25-2005 11:02:

oh me fucking god...my feet hurrrttt! Lee Burridge last night. On the float from noon - 9pm, then the afterparty until 4am...ouch ouch ouch!

What an event. Couple power failures in the trance room of the afterparty during Blank & Jones' set. Feel real bad for them. Could tell they were getting pissed after the second time.

Anyhow, one of my most memorable days ever.

Oh man, Blank and Jones' set was turning into something great. But those power cuts.....uch. After the second cut they had trouble getting the pace back. That and Dan's set were my favorites though.

I was too broke to go to the afterparty... and in a way, I'm SO glad I didn't, because I'm so sore right now I think I won't be moving at all today. Had I gone to the afterparty... I don't even want to think about it.

Posted by HotDogWater on Sep-25-2005 18:54:

Wow... that was an incredible weekend...
Ferry Corsten KILLED it in the end! Awesome!
I haven't slept since Friday eve so it's time to crash & burn!

Posted by FuzzyChicken on Sep-25-2005 19:59:

Yeah both Markus and Ferry did excellent jobs closing the night off with a strong ending, making me miss A&B .

Anyone know that piano song that Markus droped right before 2 AM. It sounded like a new song.

Edit: Anyone know if any of these sets got recorded, and available to dl?

Posted by Swamper on Sep-25-2005 20:01:

Love Parade:
Bigger, and more fun than last year, and the weather could not have been any better!

As last year, during the parade I was following the Psy trance truck with an Indian DJ. That was the truck to be at!

Parade finished at the Civic Center, and turned into a giant party ! So huge, in fact, that I don't even think we ever covered the entire ground.

Lessons learnt: Never try to meet-up with people during the parade. It's damn near impossible, and the fact that cell phone reception dropped to nearly none did not help.

Official Afterparty:
Awesome music + Awesome venue + Not packed + Not hot = Awesome party ! Ferry, imho, played the set of the night.

i thought the love parade was a lot better than last year. i was surprised that there werent more floats but i think there was more quality this year. the setting was a lot better too, except all the sounds mixing together and bouncing off the walls of the surrounding buildings was too much for me.

even though i thought it was a lot better than last year, i just wasnt in the mood for it. my back hurt and i was tired so i went home at like 6. i was so glad that i took BART...

anyway, it was nice to see some TAs at the meetup. I lost you after we got to the staging area cause i had to go eat. i am glad to hear everyone had a good time.

by the way.. i was watching the news last night and they said there were 40,000 people there. did anyone hear any other estimates?

Posted by FuzzyChicken on Sep-25-2005 21:20:

Well I missed the parade (flight from Chicago to Sac got delayed a day anyways...). I made it to the afterparty at about 8:30~ish and sold my extra ticket for $45 (I know I could have sold it for more, but I didnt really know ).

My friends and I waited at the ticket holders line a little past the toilets, then as the line picked up ppl shoved there way by the metal fence near the front and we all snuck pass the huge line and got in fairly fast after that.

Once inside we hung out for Carl Cox which was pretty cool, not a ton of ppl at first and the vibe was so-so but picking up speed slowly and he was rockin it towards the end. Was it me or did he do a few spinbacks to mix in or wahtever

My friends and I took a short break, went to the balcony and walked around. Went into the DnB room for a couple of minutes to catch John B, I think it was. The couple of songs I did hear were pretty cool and had awesome beats to it. I saw a guy in a white TA shirt in the middle, but didnt say hi. (Later saw him in the middle for Markus).

We then walked around and saw Blank and Jones were signing stuff and taking pics out side near where they were selling their T shirts. So we all had them sign stuff and take pics.

Then it was off to catch the last half of Mike Koglin's set. I remember him playing a lot of trancy/anthem kinda stuff. Especially 643, when me and fellow TAs connected. I remember the tall guys name was Stan (easy to remember, but Im blanking on his friends name who I talked with for awhile, sorry man )

Then Blank and Jones came on and set up the laptop. They were doing a really trancy set with airy buildups. It was pretty good, I was digging it for the most part. Then the sound got cut in the middle of their set and we all claped and chanted. Then at 1:15 it was off for some water and to get in front for Markus and Ferry.

Markus came on and his set flew by me, I was having a blast. I remember him playing the "sending out an S.O.S.", Open your Eyes, Lots of his usual songs which I dont remember the names of, and then an awesome piano song about 1/4 the way into his set at 2 AM that sounded new. I saw sweet Candy girl in the crowed and her friends with the hearts which was cool. I recognized them from pics from LA events. I saw DaveT for a second too, and said nice camera . And met a few more ppl along the way. Then Markus was ending with Without You Near and was signing stuff and I handed him two flyers (one for me and my friend) to sign and he only handed back my friends, so I lost Blank&Jones and Markus's signatures. . But its not that bad, I still had a blast.

Then Ferry came on and tore the place up again (after Markus). He played his songs and some other thrown in, I was busy taking pics. I was disappointed he didnt play Force of Gravity, but meh. Place went wild when he dropped Punk and others, dont remember much. Half way through his set the Big black guy in the blue coat with dreds (Someone important for Skills I think) pointed to Sweet Candy girl and neinerlove to come on stage and they did which was awesome.

Here are some pics of the event:

Okay so I didn't go to the TA meetup because I was passed the fuck out and hungover. Finally I got up around.. like one thirty and I headed over to Market to start watching the Parade. I ran into a friend there and then we basically followed the Spundae float... btw what the fuck that shit was moving so fast we were like RUNNING to catch up!! Finally I found Boomers and M (was it Michelle? I think so) and we followed it all the way to the park area. It was really hard to walk and dance at the same time btw. When we got to the park I didn't have any cash on me so I went to go get cash and some water, and then when we got back I ran into another friend and we all agreed that we were going to basically stick the the Spundae float.

When I got to the Spundae float, Above and Beyond were spinning and I spazzed out because the first thing I heard when I finally got TO the float was "You're so ugly and you're so beautiful...." of course I haven't heard that track in a really long time before yesterday so those lyrics might actually be flipped around, but you all know what track I am talking about. I planted myself right smack in front and danced my ass off to AB, who threw down a fucking AMAZING set. A couple other DJs came on, and then all of a sudden I saw Markus standing behind the booth and I was like "holy shit!" because I didn't even realize he would be spinning, much less at that particular float, so of course when I saw Markus I screamed and started yelling "Markus!!!!!!!" Everyone around me was like wtf, who is that? I was like "FUCKING MARKUS!!!!!!!!!!" I'm sorry, but Markus' set was fucking a-maz-ing. And I think it was during Markus that Del (Swamp) found me.

Bad Boy Bill threw down an AMAZING set as well. I don't know about you guys but I couldn't stop dancing. In fact I was psyched enough that I jumped onstage (embarassing moment but I think it'll get brought up so I might as well admit to it). I only stayed for part of Ferry's set because I wanted to start walking back to my place before the mass of people started walking. Plus, everyone was slamming into me (my chest REALLY hurts, I think I was smooshed just a bit too much) and some bitch next to me couldn't handle whatever drugs she was on and she kept knocking into me so I ended up pushing her and her stupid boyfriend out of the damn way.
