how do i get that trance synth sound? (with reason)
I just got reason a while ago but no matter how hard I try I cant get that "trance-y" synth sound that you heard in so many songs for example the synth in aura - the source of trance is it even possible to get this with the use of software? or do i need a hardware synth?
mat
I just started using Reason also and the subtractor is quite good
for it being a softsynth but it really lacks the next step in sound gereration.
BTW Reason is some of the best software you can use, so use it, learn
and when you can right/produce tracks like the best of them get so hardware synths then, just learn all you can about synths and how they work.
subtractor ya say eh?
where can I get that program>????
plze Pm me...
greetz,
DJ Mantis
subtractor is the synth built into reason
a nice stand-alone softsynth aparently is "buzz"
Reaktor.
a bitch to program though
hmm
i know you can make a bitchin' trance synth in fruity using the 3xOSC
>> example of a remix im working on <<
wooow man! did you did that with FruityLoops???
If you did, could you send me those synth-presets????
that remix rulez man!
greetz,
DJ Mantis
yep i did!
okay let me sort it out and i'll get back to ya
Shit!!
Wow!
Thats amazing!
that synth sounds better than the original!!
Keep @ it
For a short synth like that, try getting Sonic Syndicate's Scorpion. It's monophonic, but you can get a passable short trance synth once you detune the osc's and play with the spectral FX.
If anyone's interested in scorp 2.0 just PM me.
Cheers all

I don`t think so mate, once I`d heard that sample, I`ve been trying to get a great synth outta 3x osc, and it works! just spend a long time on it and add some ffects and there you are!

hey dj dave b, how is it going with the sorting??
hope you are finished soon, I cant wait to make a neat track with that synt(I`ll tweak it a bit, so it doesn`t sound exactly the same, nice of me isn`t it? hehe... )

ok, the prob i have is i had to create templates for each effect.. there is 4 in total so you will have to manually put each preset in the appropriate folder
the preset was originally from dj deft's 'out of the blue' remix
i modded it slightly
download the zip here
the zip contains 4 files....
Trance.fst [ the main preset for the 3xOSC ]
Trance-*.fst [ each file is named after the effect its used for, just place the file into the appropriate Samples\FX presets folder ]
have a play with the filter on the 3xOSC and other settings
cheers
dave
Awesome guys.... Reasons getting cheaper:- UK Price @Turnkey.com £250 i think????? WoooHooooo
yeah Dave! this is awesome!
many thnx for this, hope I`ll soon finish a track with such a synth

for example, put the trance at fx channel 2, then go to the fx channels screen, and then put the other 3 (or 4) into the fx channel 2
and voila, it works

Ah
gotcha
Cheers
Damn i thought everything was working nice, but...
I pressed play on the song and everything had the effect , not just the syth.
On the step sequencer, the original trance synth is in the fith one down, so i put all the effects, into the fx's window into number 5,
is this right?
well obviously not lol
help! lol
Might help
I don't use Fruity loops but that seems pretty much covered. As for Reason, I find I can come really close to that "trancey" sound, but you have to use a few subtractors to get there (say three). Have them each playing at a different octave, but using the same notes. Use a fair bit of delay and reverb on each synth. Turn all the filter cutoffs down to 0 and set up a loop you like. While it's playing start to filter in each of the synths and you'll see what I mean. By the time each synth filters in you've got a nice wall of sound, trance anthem kind of thing going on. There are lots of variations you can do on this as the synths filter in and out, changing melody, drum rolls, breaks where the pads come in. Don't know if I explained that very well, but hope it helps.
wow thanks fluoxetine [my fellow canadian]...i tried that and made a pretty good sound which is *a lot* better than what ive come up with before
thankz,
mat
I am assuming that not all of you have purchased this software you are talking about. I was able to get FL no probs, but the other programs you are mentioning (ie Reason, Scorpion) i am having a little trouble finding. If anyone can PM me with any info on a.... err... 'demo' of these programs, it would be greatly appreciated!
ummm.. that zip file isn't there anymore.. you think you could up it one more time?
tahnks
