The Pizza Toppings Thread

pizza.. one the finest dishes in existence! thanks Italy

my ultimate pizza is made up of the following,

mushrooms
pineapple
black olives
feta cheese
chilli
basil & oregano

im no vegetarian but i prefer my pizzas without meat for some reason

crust needs to be very thin and not a lot of cheese (heaps of cheese takes away the flavour from the toppings)

so, whats your ultimate pizza?

Posted by gilmista on Sep-26-2005 11:59:

this thread is cheesy..

and on that mouth-watering note, my pizza consists of:

Pepperoni
Chicken
Fetta
Black Olives
Extra Chili
Garlic
Oregano
(and sometimes fresh tomato if i am feeling adventurous).

I have asked our local pizza place to put this pizza on the menu to save us from reading out this list every time and confusing the poor waitress, but i duno what happened.

anyways, thats my weapon of choice

hmm good topic jace. when i was younger i loved the margarita but grew out of it. hawaiian doesnt appeal to me much. these days i like a bit of salami and mushroom action. when i was working at a restaurant late last year my mate would make me a pizza after we finished, i usually had ham, mushroom, hot salami, cheese and chilli flakes. it was beautiful i try and get as close to that combination as i can get, otherwise i stick with the aussie and meatlovers myself.

if you've ever had a pizza in italy you would know that it's all about the sauce and minimal toppings. they like to keep it simple, none of these fancy shmancy toppings like they have here.

best pizza i've ever tasted would have to be at an Autogrill (kinda like our petrol stations with combined pizza joints) as we crossed over from the French Riviera on the way to Pisa.

it was cheap as chips for a huge slice.

pizza in florence = overratd.
pizza in rome = deelish!

pizza in amsterdam = meh.
oh and the pizza in prague = yum!

As for sydney... Gourmet Pizza Kitchen is pretty good. If we're talking fast food then i'll go with a Dominos El Scorcho. Runner up Pizza Hut Hot'n'Spicy. Pizza Haven is the worst, imo.

The world Champion pizza maker (might have been a year or two ago now) owns a restaurant here in Adelaide - La Trattoria

One of his creations that he invented for the comp was a Strawberry dessert pizza

im one who also can't understand the concept of meat on pizza. Ultimate pizza would be thin ofcourse, a thin base means you're eating more bread than toppings. Crispy crust, however not rock like. Sauce enough to taste not drenched. Here are the toppings:

Mushrooms
Olives
Capsicum
light chilli
tomato
cheese

best pizza BERLIN. There was this little place near the laundromat which owned, better than Rome and definitely better than Vienna (worst pizza on earth).

im hungry

Posted by jc on Sep-26-2005 22:29:

as for best pizza in sydney-

1. Arthur's Pizza (Paddington)
2. La Bussola (Rushcutters Bay)

mmmmmm...

doesnt anyone else eat just get full, rather than having a fetish for all kinds of particular foods?

meh, im such a pleb....

Posted by batemanscott on Sep-27-2005 03:44:

Haha this thread has made me hungry!!!

Trick to pizza = thin base and a little cheese underneath toppings , not on top, just so it holds the toppings to the base otherwise the toppings dont cook properly and you get the taste of just cheese.

As far as franchisey fast food pizza imho Pizza Hut thin and crispy chicken supreme for teh win Pizza haven by far the worst.

Remember more toppings = less flavour.
