GF needs job, any help is appreciated

Hiya
My gf just moved here recently from Ottawa. She's 21, bilingual, finished college, and is here for the next two years while I finish school. We've been going through Jobshark, and other similar online references, but it's been kind of slow. If anyone knows of any place to apply for a job, or that is hiring, we'd be forever indebted to you all. Any help is extremely appreciated, as she'd like to get something ASAP.

THanks a bunch

Yeah, I think she's pretty hot, she's got a really nice smile, but be an @$$ and she'll cut your b@77s off
She's bilingual, so in this Country, I assumed everyone would see that as speaking and writing both French and English. She speaks Serbo-croatian as well.
She finished Human Sciences - Administration in college. The way they do it in Quebec, you go to college for whatever, then university. She finished her first year of Accounting in Univ.

so really she's trilingual.
give your girl props when its due (selling her short by mentioning she's only bilingual).

find out what she wants to do then get her to go get a job in it.

I just approach whatever kind of job I want, find out if they are hiring and then apply anyway to a bunch of such places.
Even if they aren't hiring, they'll keep you in mind as someone who really wants the job and is willing to go out of thier way to get it and will hold you in high regard when something does become available.
even if doesn't work why not. you have to try somewhere and you may as well pick where you want it to be and give it a shot... got nothing to loose only results to gain.

If all else fails, careers in prostitution always seem to be open.

Very witty comment.

Perhaps you need a punch in the balls?

What? the statement is true, theres always a demand for more woman in prostitution. I didn't say she had to, or she deserved it, I said if all else fails. I think someone is a bit sensitive.

From my experience in TO job hunting I found the best way to go is through an agency. I got an awesome FT permanent job through MacDonald-Cole and was told that many companies use agencys for
pre-interview screening. With experience in Administration she should be able to get a job within a week. They found me a tech position in a week. In any case even temporary work is easy to come by that way until she finds something she likes. I suggest sending a resume and cover letter to all the ones listed in the yellow pages and she will har something within a few days. Good Luck!!

Posted by DJ_Bananie on Sep-27-2005 00:39:

dude, why isn't she asking?

like what are you, her mother?

WHIPPED!

(sorry, that's harsh... but like, i'm not convined she exists)

If you said that to someone in certain countries, you'd be dead for that sort of insult.

Suggesting someone's girl to whore herself indicates a lack of respect towards females in general as well.

Well I'm not in said "certain country", though I'm glad you have given me the time to explain what swift justice I would meet in these countries for my crime. Heaven forbid I find myself facing the death penalty for a petty insult, gotta love that third-world thinking. EvilTree, has it ever occurred to you that perhaps its because of some of the primitive backwater ideologies that these countries embrace is the reason you now happily reside in Canada? a country that's a little above realizing killing someone for crackin' a joke is a bit harsh and uncivilized. I mean, why fight words with words, when you can shoot someone (now that's a country I would consider nuking and hoping the genes of these people dont mix with the rest of the world). But I'm not here to preach about stupid people from other countries who think that homicide should be justified because of some antiquated code of chivalry.

What I'm missing out on, is how my comment about looking for a job in prostitution makes me into a woman hater? Does anyone else fail to see the connection here? I mean, talk about nailing the slippery slope fallacy on the head. Atleast give some sort of reasoning behind your accusation, and explain how it is that insulting one woman about the long aged profession of prostitution, which includes both men and women, is clear sexism. Now if I had said "Well if that doesn't work, maybe she should try prostitution like every other girl should because that's their place, on their knee's before men.", then I definitely cant defend myself, that's just a bit too harsh. Also, since when do guys gotta go around defending women everywhere? Last time I checked, girls can stand up for themselves and kick some ass too, especially women from Canada (with a mouth like mine, I know). So cut the whole "I'm a gentleman" bullshit (cause aint no one buying it here), and while you're at it, stop trying to make half assed observations about me either, your aspiration towards sounding somewhat intelligent failed miserably short in that post of yours.

No, I was merely saying that comments like that can get you killed in some countries because it can be taken as a deadly insult to some people. I was implying that you should be careful what you say.

Why did you make the prostitution comment in the first place? A joke? If it was, it was a joke in very poor taste.

I got ticked because whatever your intent was making your comment, it sucked.

Thanks for the clarification, but my response still stands. People from those countries are still very retarded for thinking that my response is a "DEADLY INSULT", and they should still be nuked. And no, I wont becareful of what I say aslong as I know fully what I deem appropriate to myself and what is too far and what is pushing the envelope.

Oh shit, good thing Captain Obvious here is telling me my joke was in poor taste, I kinda figured that you didn't like it the first time you replied to my post, dipshit. What kills me the most is when I call you out to justify your reasons for accusing me of being a sexist, you're suppose to respond with said answers, not beat around the bush and completely ignoring the second half of my post, which begs the question "Why am I a woman-hater again?".

Lastly, there's nothing worse than using crappy verbs to generally describe your thoughts of another person's opinion, actions or accomplishments. You know what I do to not sound like an unoriginal bastard like yourself, I take sayings like yours and turn them around into something more fun to read. For instance, "I suck? Do I suck as a poorly timed joke sucks, or suck in like what your mother does for a living sir?" You see, that's something that's more entertaining to read. And best part, its even more offensive than the first thing I said about prostitution. Genious isn't it?(dont kill me please, lol) Anyhoot, Im getting a bit tired, was a pleasure trading chat. Seeya next time you get offended by my posts.
