My Dilemma

I want to buy this car:



But my wife is giving me an ultimatum: If you buy that car you have to sell your dj equipment.

The truth of it is, I have already bought and traded in 2 cars this year and I probably spend more money on records than I should, considering that I'm pretty much the only person I play for.

In addition, I had been thinking of selling the equipment because I just haven't been devoting much time to playing. I just fear that if I sell it, I will regret it forever.

So, you CORe whores, should I:

A. Sell DJ stuff/buy car

B. Keep DJ stuff/lust after car

C. Keep DJ stuff/buy car/deal with a VERY mad wife indefinitely

D. Sell DJ stuff/buy car/.......then buy more DJ stuff and tell wife 'PWNED!'

F. Stick it in the p00per

Another factor to consider, although we are legally married now, we still haven't had the big ceremony yet (June 17th) so, she is all "We have to save every dollar so we can pay for huge wedding". Which we are actually fine for right now but, she is using that as an excuse for the ultimatum.

You are right, and that's her big argument.

First I traded in my RSX (115,00 miles) for a Jeep and I thought I would be ok with it because I was taking over a much smaller territory but, then you've seen what happened with gas prices. It was costing me close to $500/month for gas.

So I traded the Jeep in for a Civic Si and everything was cool until I saw the new Civic Si.

maybe you could compromise. like say...ok i'll hold off getting the car until after the ceremony, but i'd like to get it afterwards if we are sitting well financially.

that way you keep the dj stuff, will get the car eventually (hell you'll probably want something else in 8 months hahaha), and still be on good terms...

Yes, that would be the sensible thing to do.......I guess I am waaaaaaaay too instant gratification. i want that car like yesterday.

This car is really perfect for what i want - Reliable transportation and decent performance. Any other cars in that price range won't give me as good a combination of the two IMO. And it's not wise for me to get a more expensive car as I am only reimbursed (for my job) so much per mile I drive, which is about 30k/year.

All things considered, I think this is my best bet.

she will seriously appreciate it too. You'll both have a good time & get good memories that will last a life time. Cars can always come later.

You should actually consider a House & Car loan when you get back from your honeymoon....

keep dj equipment, get the car, and put up with the wife bein pissed...she will surely get over it soon enough...and if she doesnt, then buy her something that will make her happy and keep her occupied so she wont worry about the car and equipment anymore

get a divorce

then you can do what you like, when you like

eg doing her sister in the pooper, whilst listening to one of your mixes in the new car (gets rid of the new car smell)
