great DJ table

http://www.fritzproaudio.com/Details.asp?ProdID=231

$116 shipped.

The owner is really cool and shipped it out quickly. They have one thats a little bigger, but the 5422 is 54x22 and holds a 12" mixer and two 1200s.. adjustable height, carpted and looks really neat.

now if only i can build a stand for my CDJ200s..

I would probably suggest building your own.

+1 just got my 2' x 4' particle board from lowes today....$5

Hey.

Im 6'3".. what I use now is the rack storage shelving. You have to get something semi heavy duty though. They usually come in a box that has 2 half racks that you can combine and make 1 tall rack. I just use the half racks side by side, with a heavy duty particle board laying accross both. Its pretty decent height (not too low) and the solution cost around $40.

i use a big ass computer desk. it fits my TT's, cd decks and mixer perfectly.

go to ikea and buy a base kitchen cabinet. the doors are extra and you dont need them. it also comes with shelves that will fit records.

cost - $50

the cabinet is as high as the countertop in your kitchen is.

then buy a piece of particle board. cut it to the size you want and attach it to the base cabinet. you can even buy a 1 x 4 and attach a lip around it.

paint it all the same color and your done.

total cost is around $70.

i built one this way, but more detailed then i am explaining.

put a 42"x 72"x 1 1/32" board on top of your tv like i did! hahaha...

now my the top of the board where everything is sitting is about 41" off the ground. i love it. bye bye back pain. hehehe.. i'm just 5'6"-5'7" so my turntables and mixer are almost up to my tits. ahem, i mean pecks. *cough, cough*

i'm short, and i can't stand it when the table is just waist high. i don't like doing the "spiderman" when i mix.

must be hell for taller people.

I'm looking for a new table, that one seems interesting. I have this cheap plasticy folding table from KMart that is kind of dented in a little because of my TTs that I had on top of it for two years. Now I have my CDJs that I put on my TTs flight case. Is this table pretty sturdy?

Posted by djshtr on Sep-28-2005 22:52:

well if you mean sturdy in terms of weight, i think it can hold 200lbs.. i wouldn't sit on it, but i'm sure that if i could it will have no problem...

if you mean sturdy in terms of wobble, then it does wabble a bit.. if i'm going crazy scratching, the table does move a little bit, but not enough to cause the record to scratch. As you can see it has 4 independant feet, unlike most computer decks that have a connection between the two rear feet..

I would reccomend building one yourself. I built mine for under $100 and it holds 2 TT's, 2 CDJ's, mixer, monitors, and has shelving underneath to hold about 500 records.

Also, take a look through "Post Pictures Of Your Set-Up" thread. you'll find some great ideas in there.

Re: Re: great DJ table

If you are looking for something better than chairs, go to Staples or Office Depot and get a folding table for $30. Even when you replace it they are still very useful to have around for parties and such.

I use a desk:

Target sells a table that you would sware was made for decks. Its all black and I think its real world purpose is for a lemonade stand, I'm not sure. Anyways, it costs $20 bucks. It was a little low so I bought several cinder blocks to boost it up to the level where I like to play. Its a quick and easy alternative.

Thats a nice setup you got there Ryan.

Go to a Staples store, I got a 5' x 2' good, plain, solid, foldout table for ~40 bucks. Free shipping. Holds my amp, 2 tables, mixer, and 2 speakers with room to spare.

Re: Re: Re: Re: great DJ table

I got it at a local home/hardware store here in Boston. They sell that wire shelving in all different dimensions, so I bought one shelf and the "stub" legs. I believe it's 14" deep by about 36" wide. They also sold the piece of melanine that fit the shelf size perfectly.

I had actually bought it to set my center channel speaker on in my living room, but it works great for the CDJ's.
