Newbie Trance - Ambrosia

http://www.mp3.com.au/PlayASX.ASP?i...6&File=Test.asx

Hey. heres a little clip of a track ive been working on. Nothing new, just newbie trance. As u can see my production skills arent great. The snare is crap, but im trying to learn to make sweeps, and the mastering/eqing are aweful too, things im trying to pick up. Some critcial feedback is what i want, be as harsh as possible. And some future directions i should take for the track cos i know it needs lots of work. Thanks
P.S. Dont know how to host it on a mp3 site, if anyones got any good free ones please tell me. Cheers

Yep now it works. I got to say I expected something a lot worse. But the sample has a great bass and good melody.

But okay a few pointers:

- that snare you use just before the kick and other elements kick in with the main lead is not really nice. There are lots of free samples available on the internet with decent to very good snares and kicks. Search for them

- You need a better kick because it has too much lowend so it gets stuck with the low bass. Now it cloudes the whole track.

- the strings you add with the main melody as soon as the kick comes in are too low. They also cloud up your midfrequencies. You might want to try to put the strings an octave higher so that they stand out more and give the rest of the production more space to breath.

- You keep going with the same sounds for a long time. Add some percussion or an extra stringlayer after 16 bars to get more variation.

Overall you do know how to make a nice melody so the basics are there. Just try to give every sounds its own space more.

Cheers!
