-- the difference a quality mixer can make
the difference a quality mixer can make
Ok
So a few months ago, i upgraded my beaten up 500ALIIs for the M44G's based on people's opinion in this forum.. and i was shocked.. after the upgrade i could hear more high end distortion, and a overdriven sound.. as if the treble was being clipped? At first i thought it was because i had upgraded some ghetto party speakers with a Klipsch 5.1 set up.. maybe the noise was because i have better speakers
Anyway, i lived with the nasty sound for about 5 months and just the other day i upgraded my numark 3 channel mixer from about 5 years ago with the numark x1500..
wow.
the overdriven treble is gone. sound is much cleaner and less harsh. i guess upgrading from the 500AL to the M44g gave a better output which became more noticible on the klipsch speakers, which was fixed, by upgrading to a decent mixer.
moral of the story: if up upgrade one piece, you are gonna need to upgrade everything... from the needle, through the mixer and the speakers!!! never knew a needle and a mixer could change the sound so much! next purchase: entry-level monitors!
I doubt you needed to buy all of that. You probably just had the trim too high
...nothing should pass orange (0db).
If I go get a DJM 707, does that mean I have to upgrade my turntables to Technics 1210m5g's with ortofon nightclubs, and a pair of CDJ 1000's?
Sure. Infact, I'm just going to put them on my credit card right now.
On another note. Congratulations on the "accomplishment".
No.. trim was not high at all.. it was probably because i bought the mixer about 5-6 years ago off eBay.. and it was USED at that! no, i'm not saying you need to upgrade your tables, but what i'm saying is that a good needle on shit speakers will sound like shit.. and conversely, a shit needle on a good sound set up will still sound like shit.. i'm saying i couldn't appreciate quality equipment when i had limiting factors.. its like the weakest link in the chain sorta thing...
