damn its hard here.
I wonder what it takes to get some constructive feedback on a mix. I have offered 12 reviews myself so far but no one has returned the honour .
Oh well
patience d00d.
downloaded yesterday when you posted it and just listened.
constructive feedback?? ...
this mix rocked!
very wide range of tracks here. the flow is there for me for the most part. I can appreciate the way you chose tracks, focusing on the feeling and key of the tracks versus the style or genre. veryyyyy goood. the best way to go. tis the way sander does it; and i think you've taken a note or two from him (am i wrong?).
i am not too fond of breaks but the only real breaks, the first three tracks, were nice and tolerable. using breaks in the begining, i have found, is usually very sucessful for a mix. no exception here.
so some of the mixing isn't perfect. some of the levels are a bit obnoxious. but it isn't in a way that detriments the mix. most of the incoming tracks are very prominent and not as blended per usual. but this for me is actually a plus! we all know your bringin in a track, might as well not hide it! lol
ok, most of the mixing is good and the energy is also good. but i think what is lacking is consistency of style and a bit of flow. I think the main example of this is going from The Fruit to Killa..
I mean, geez. talk about a style jump. the energy is good and I can see where you were coming from there, but the melodic emphasis of The Fruit cannot compete with Killa and so it causes a clash and a dissipation of interest.
so if there was one point or peice of advice i could give to you it would be:
put more care and thought into your progression and trackselection. try and respect the styles and genres a bit more and learn to build melodically, or maybe more specifically, build emotionally. because if you have a track like Killa in with your mix you better be able to deal with the melodics/emotion involved.
ok, so personally i really like your style and love your ability to successfully experiment and use fun tracks, but on the other hand this is a bit childish and you should try and gain a deeper and more mature respect for the music and try and acheive an emotional result along with your already very energetic one.
Thanks for your review man.
really appreciate it !!

Its great to get called childish at 33 years and 11 years of mixing
.......It is more a case of coming to terms with this Traktor business
excellent mix imo!
probably one of the best iv downloaded from here. i love the style, quite a good variety of tunes there and it doesnt get borin, which is usually what happens when people start puttin breaks in theyr sets!absolutley love the 2nd last track
keep em comin
Thanks for taking the time mate !
You know what they say about variety ?
Wasn't keen on the first 3 tunes, just not my style at all, the rest of the mix is pretty good. What does stand out is how good the mixing, flow and structure is. infact its excellant!! Just felt the style wasn't really for me!! Would defo love to hear a full on Trance mix from yourself!! Get it sorted!!

|
yeh should be onto that soon.
Thanks for taking the time to listen mate.

lol, i am listening to your mix again and reading my post and thinking i sounded like an arrogant asshole.
don't know why i thought a breaky house mix should be emotional.
probably a bit drunk that night.
anyway this mix is awesome. i do stand by what i said about killa, it's a bit out of place, but still well done. everything is mixed excellently. your 11 years shows.
good work, will look for your next one.

I've given your mix about 7 listens now and I must say it's grown on me. You did a good job putting in variety without sacrificing focus. The tracks on their own are solid but it's your clever way of putting it all together in one package that impressed me. Although the 5th track definitely has to go (sorry), the overall mix is very enjoyable and different from most of the other stuff on this board. Even though the BPM is slightly faster than I'd like, you convinced me it's worth relistening. I look forward to your material and I hope you'd check out some of my stuff too when you get a chance.
8.5/10
-DJ Rain
PS: Track 6 is definitely a keeper. The vocals has that "vintage" feel to it that's very unique.
keen to have a listen now having read metatron's arrogant review
