Croatia finally gets thumbs up to join the rest of us in the EU

Does this mean Austria will stop objecting to Turkey getting it's talks underway as well?

(I read that Austria was wanting Croatia to get in, and might cave on their turkey objections if Croatia got their shake.)

Austria has backed down, and Turkey have agreed to start talks on the previously agreed terms. It's good stuff.

I'm rather pleased at this. To be honest, I'd be happy for the EU to go as far east as Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, but no further, as you'd have trouble justifying any more than that as Europe. About Russia, I'm unsure, but I don't think they'll want to be in the EU for a long time, if ever.

Yeah, finally!

To be honest seems like all this Hague tribunal cooperation problem was just a matter of internal EU policies between Austria and UK who couldn't have reached a deal. So since Austria didn't want Turkey in, the UK started insisting that Croatia is not cooperating with Hague in order to make Austria withdraw from its positions on Turkey. Because, really, the situation with Gotovina isn't much different than it was half a year ago. Nobody knows where he is and it's pretty sure he's not hiding in Croatia, at least not in a place with people living in the vicinity. I'm also guessing that Carla Del Ponte attacked Vatican to formally release Croatia from accusations of hiding him while at the same time not putting her foot in her mouth for continuously insisting that he's hiding in Croatian territorry.

I think the eastern countries need to now do their best to combat their faults such as racism, everytime our football team goes east they get abuse that should've been left last century.

Turkey, well I dunno tbh, there's too many rights issues i think first.
