Top Dj's not using vinyl anymore?

Sorry if this thread is a repeat but it is not a vinyl vs cd thread.

I'm just noticing top dj's using cd's or other electronic format to spin their music now. IE Tiesto in concert was all cd & PVD is using that Final Scratch stuff.

LOL. classic.

yeah, its a matter of simplicity too. you dont have to look for buried vinyls. i full crate of vinyls can fit on a few pages of cds.
i like my vinyls but they are so bloody expensive!!!

vinyl will remain around for a good while. every DJ I have seen so far in Dallas, with the exception of Ferry Corsten, has used all vinyl or a combination of vinyl and cd's.

I don't think DJ technology has caught up to Texas then. Almost all the big names that pass through NYC have relied heavily on cds....a lot entirely on cds.

sasha is all ableton/few cd's
john '00' fleming is all cd's...in fact, his label stopped doing vinyl.

No, they're not. Some are, but most aren't.

Besides.... What the f**k does it matter to you?

Didn't you know, I'm the king of Vinyl vs.CD land. So STFU!

Vinyl is already dead. Nobody is using vinyl anymore, well nobody in the top 10 anyway.

It's the last part of the interview where he says it.

d00d, is that for real :S I thought you were only joking ;D

Posted by Zild on Oct-06-2005 22:04:

Yeah, I thought you had made a really awesome joke. Oh well...

Posted by Chris Allen on Oct-06-2005 22:09:

No, I'm not joking at all.

I was suprise to hear him say it as well. Especially considering he's on a media hi-atus and said he was taking a break from interviews

Posted by Zild on Oct-06-2005 22:37:

Nah I meant its a joke because it is Tiesto saying it. A DJ mag poll doesn't have anything to do with good DJing.

Yea, would have made a great joke...especially by him and his exponentially decreasing skill, cds or vinyl will not make a difference .

Posted by jupiterone on Oct-07-2005 00:27:

I know i dont use vinyl anymore...

I care about music not format...cause thats what spinning is about the music. 1..nice variety...2...quicker delivery...3...faster to play out when youre a producer..slap your track onto a cd and out ya go.

Do you think Even Cdj's will dissapear with the appereance of Ableton live, and who knows what software they will invent in the future?

I'm not against the softwares, I just Wonder if Cdj's will still keep alive for a long time.

Who knows, in 5 years time someone might invent this incredible piece of hardware which could knock the socks off the best a computer could offer...

And at some point someone might come up with a new data format to replace digital... although they may neeed to invent a new branch of maths first!

Posted by TranceSpeeder on Oct-07-2005 01:12:

every dj has there own thing, thats what is gonna tell them apart.

You know, they are on their way to invent trinary. I don't know if they're finished, but they are working on it.

Man, science today isn't what it was a hundred years ago :S Took man thousands of years to go from the wheelwagon to the car, and then less than half a centuary to go from the car to the spaceship.

Call me crazy anyone, but I think we'll self-destruct soon :S
