-- First gig of a producer
First gig of a producer
Hi guys,
hope you can help me out. This saturday I'm gonna have a gig in front of about 2 hundred people it's meeting of an electronic community and as a part of it I was invited to play there...
First i was like it's great idea, but now I'm scared to death.
I think I will play from Mixmeister ( i know i know...you'll hate me now but that's the way I can be sure that I don't wreck da party )
also I'm gonna play in a club I never were in and so on...any suggestions? like how should i set it up when I arrive with my PC and stuff? (I don't mean cablings, that's ok, but more compressors and EQs and so on, do you use something in your master chain of your mix?)
I use a compressor and have also set up a good EQ on my master and so on, anything more? also any basic guide to crowd reading and so on?
Well, I'm invited to play trance and I won't play their shitty disco, so they might hate me... :-(. One more thing I will play for SIX hours...any tips how to ... hmmm survive it in one piece?
so...anyone...pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaseeeeeeee any hints?
hope you can help me.
thanks in advance and cya around
sincerely,
B.
Don't use a laptop. It'll overheat and especially with winblows, you should just use the CDJ's

here's a hint instead of mixmeister...use winamp and enable the automix mode......
better yet....make a play list, let winamp play and then just pretend you're keeping busy...
i dont quite "get" what you are talking about.
your title is "first gig for a producer"
do you mean first DJ gig?
if so, dont use mixmeister, especially if it an industry party. they will laugh at you and it will be your last gig.
especially using a desktop.

| Originally posted by zizack I could be wrong, but I think Traktor beatmatches for you. Another program I have seen people use that I know beatmatches for you is Atomix. |
if you don't know how to beatmatch, why did you accept a dj gig?
beatmatching is a fundamental skill involved with djing
especially if this is going to be an industry party like you said it was going to be

yes, you're right...well I can beatmatch...but I still trainwreck...(sometimes)
and I want it to be precise...so I think MM or Live is the best...but I wanted to know your suggestions :-)
I'm already very sad that I accepted it :-(
