i just ate my meal now (6:00am). no food or drink until sunset. gotta do this for 30 days

Posted by TranceGrooves on Oct-05-2005 11:33:

First few of the month so i am doing it too. not noble enough to do it for whole month but will try my best to fast as many days as i can. Happy Ramazan to everyone.

I told my wife this morning that in honour of our Muslim friends we should fast from sun up to sun down..... she responded "yeah, we're catholic, we only have to fast on Good Friday and that's bad enough. I don't have the will power to be Muslim."

Best wishes to all of you in this most spiritual of times.

Jester

I fast every Sunday (and not just during the day)...

Posted by Nikitha on Oct-05-2005 14:45:

When i was in grade 4.. my best friend Hussein would have to fast at this time of year... so i wouldn't eat lunch at school during this time so that he wouldn't feel left out in our group of friends and i pretty much did this all through grade school from then on... it wasn't as much fasting as him but even that little bit of the day with no eating was HARD.. i tip my hat to all those who fast

LMAO, what religion is that? the church of the 613

I like God, and I like food. Respect.

I'm fasting! God willing I can do this for the next 30 days. I have usually gotten lax by the end of it but this year I think I need as much "kudos" as I can get! It's really not as hard as one would think considering I just can't eat/drink/fornicate until sundown so today it's approx 6AM-6:55PM.

The one thing I'll really miss is my morning Starbucks!

I sometimes wonder if Catholics have it harder when they have to give up something for lent. Usually my friends just give up something stupid though...if they gave up coffee that would definitely be harder than just not having anything for 13 hours.

Hey, you could always take the easy route and plan a month long vacation to Ellesmire Island each October!

Lent sucks if you do it right (ie. live a subsistance life while contemplating the life, teachings, and death of Jesus). Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your point of view, most Catholics will just give up some tokin thing like cola or tap dancing.

a tip from a trainer: when you fast, drink juice from vegies and fruit as oppose to just fasting on water.

this way you get those essential vitamins and nutrients in your body in an easily digestible way!

Please tell me you can still listen to trance though? Food and sex is bad enough, but if you can't listen to trance for 30 days then I would just simply DIE!!!!

p.s. wat u mean u can't drink anything? that's impossible. you would be dead then.

I can't believe I did not feel hungry even once! Well, okay one time it wasn't hunger so much as yummy food since my son is 13 months now and of course I still have to feed him his breakfast, lunch and dinner + milk. The one really good thing is I've prayed 4 times so far today and it wasn't hard at all. I usually pray like once a week if I'm lucky which is reallllly bad. Inshallah (which means god willing) I'll keep this up after this month is over too!

Good luck to the rest of you guys fasting and thanks to those of you who are not for respecting our beliefs and encouraging us.

Well God bless your kind heart, dearie!!!

Wow, I was so happy to see this thread today!!!! Just made my night...I love the love...

Yep, been doing this full business since I was capable (like 14 or something)...gonna be hard to maintain my fitness routine though!!!

Today at work, there was a special farewell luncheon and it was so awkward to just sit there and watch people eat!!! LOL!!! It's like my 3rd week on the job and I'm trying to make new contacts so I would never sit out of any opportunity (totally used to it though). I hope my colleagues don't think I'm some sort of freak though!

I'm so proud of my Jenny, too...she fasted for the first time today!!! She called me at noon to tell me her tummy hurted awww....

Anyway, good luck to you all, may you have a successful and blessed Ramadan, Inshallah!

And no, Vlad, no trance either Until sunset...

LOL!!! Dude, it totally depends on your own sense of spirituality! I always plug in the ch00ns at work on my headphones, but now that it's fasting time I only wait until the next prayer time...and that's my distraction away from work (Dhuhr and Asr)...it actually makes the time pass by pretty quickly!

And the whole "music is haraam" bs...I don't really believe that but for Ramadan I sorta step up to my best behaviour!
