Newbie to trance

Hey I'm kinda new to trance/techno well i've been into atb and dj tiesto for a while but just now starting getting into stuff like infected mushrooms, shpongle, nathan profitt, dj sasha. Could anyone tell me about some other good trippy stuff where the bass sounds more syncopated and not pulsing? Oh yea if anyone knows who does the song "opium dreams" (i think thats what it's called) or this song i don't know the name of but the main lyrics are "push me, then just touch me, till i can get my satisfaction", if anyone knows that would be great. THANKS

the song you mean is "benny benassi - satisfaction"

do a little search on teh forum...there are a lot of suggestions for people who want to get into the stuff!

start here. do not pass go, do not collect $200.

fyi - benny banassi's "satisfaction" is neither trance or techno. that would be house.

Thanks i didn't think either were trance but i didn't know how else to describe it. So what is "house" type stuff and any sugestions?

House would be the kind of music that is on the pop side of the electronic music scale. It can be thought of as a "modern day funk". Thats the way I think of it anyway.

For more info about the different genres in Electronic Music, go here http://www.di.fm/edmguide, although i dont agree with some of the statements he makes, it has sample clips so you can know your whats-what about electronic music.

it sounds like you have some musical background which is good. syncopated rythms are in every genre of EDM so you won't have a problem with that. Do a forum search and you'll see loads of answers to your question

Big Ears

I will suggest you to start with the cheezy trance like Tiesto, AVB, Paul Okenfold then move to more serious stuff like Paul Van Dyk, Deep Dish, then you will evolve to Sasha and Digweed and from there sky is the limit and your ears will be open to an amazing variety of producers, djs and electronic music styles...such as progressive house, electro or breaks...

A few suggestions: Listen to Desyn Massiello, Luke Fair, Eddie Halliwell, Mylo, Paul Woolford, Way out West, Steve Lawler, Hernan Cattaneo, David Guetta, Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso..

Happy journey!!
