Godskitchen Canada

This is a great idea for a thread and I'm happy to see that MTLTA's are beginning to move away from the "trance n00b" bashing threads and to more intellectual threads like this one.

There are never too many EDM promoters in Montreal and I think the arrival of Godskitchen will surely improve the scene. I think them buying BEB is a LOOONNGGG shot, but I'm not surprised as new companies often make HUGE comments in the hopes of showing how serious they are. BBCM just held their hugest rave to date (Bal en Blanc 2005) and I doubt they'll need to scrounge for money.

Speaking of Godskitchen specifically it can either go two ways. They will either make a ton of money and prospere or make a few silly mistakes and go under. I have no clue who's running their Canadian division and I think that's what will make the ultimate decision.

How much money they'll invest, who's running the show, and how their events add up will tell if they have a stable future in Canada.

Good thread.

i like the idea of Godskitchen taking over 514 events it brings a nice alternative to ppl who dont like black and blue or bal en blanc and i think there going in the right direction so far besides Paul oakenfold @ celebration but still with steve lawler and hopefully steve porter it shows they know what montrealers like

i think the part of them buying beb is strictly bullshit and rumour.

its very rare that a company publicly says that it wants to buy a rival. Normaly mergers happen then it get public...

by the way... i too want to buy bal en blanc.

I think it's very good for the scene,it's gonna bring something new and fresh. Let's see first how it's gonna be with this new association.

Wow I guess I sort of agree with Mr. Krink.

Godskitchen's arrival is being overhyped, but at the same time I guess it is something new and fresh...

These guys have a good idea of what the scene is over in the UK, that being said though the scene of EDM in general is much bigger there... And if you ask your average 18-30 year old party person here in Montreal they refer to "clubs" as Hip Hop and cheese house clubs do they not?

Clubbing in the UK = Afterhours, I mean if you look at a tourist London page they advertise Ministry of Sound as the "Must see" venue in the city...

Me thinks lots of people (not TAs and fans of the genre) still consider EDM very underground here now don't they? While the huge name DJs (That we in perticular refer to as huge name) are pop-stars in the UK and Europe.

Personally the EDM scene here is pretty cool, if it grew just a little I think it would be perfect... But I get the feeling a huge company like Godskitchen would draw perhaps too many people into the scene or to the massives, etc.

Godskitchen Canada

Tiesto's gig at Circus is the first Godskitchen party in East Canada.

second party would be this year's Celebration (w/Lawler,Oakenfold,franco fabi,..).

first Godskitchen event was on July.17 by deep dish in Calgary(Tantra).

BBCM is not close or far involved in Bal en Blanc.

Bal en Blanc is own by Bal en Blanc mgnt.

Bal en Blanc is not for sell, that's it!

Posted by Mekroon on Oct-07-2005 21:08:

all i can say is that i think itll be good to have a new big compagny throwing major events, but the indeniable fact that we cant forget here is that there will never be bigger attendance than 12000 or i dont know as it reached more than that at a big event here???

so if they dont bring something different than what we have already see, i dont think its gonna change Mtl view of EDM, but i wish theyll bring names we havent seen since a long time

Posted by jester on Oct-08-2005 01:10:

would be nice to works for Godskitchen... or even Aria...
