Donna Summer - I Feel Love

if you've never listened to this, go DL it. if you haven't listened to this in a while, take a second listen. it's pretty goddam hypnotic. is this corrrectly classified as disco?

Moroder was in the wrong decade with I Feel Love. The production is totally brilliant, and has aged exceptionally well.

Throw it together with Tangerine Dream's Phaedra (1974) and you'd have psychedelic club music fifteen years before its time.

It is a disco track, but so far ahead of it's time. Moroder's genius shines all the way through the track with the handling of synths and such. Altho, the best version of this track is Patrick Cowley's majestic 16minute remix which takes the track to a whole new level. It's still the basis to any modern reworking of I Feel Love, even with it's dated technology & primitive remixing method, it still sounds perfect today.

It also has probably the most stolen bassline in music.

Yes it is disco. You desperately need to check out some of his own work:
Giorgio Moroder - From Here to Eternity
Giorgio Moroder - Chase
Giorgio Moroder - Baby Blue
Giorgio Moroder - Evolution
These are other excellent disco tracks ahead of its time. Especially the first two. He also produced D. Summer's I feel love.

Wow somebody else mentioned Patrick Cowley. His label released the legendary remix of I Feel Love after he died. Some of Cowley's best work include:
Do Ya Wanna Funk
Megatron Man
Menergy
Lift Off
Right On Target

Unbelievable track, still sounds right in place in today's sets.

Amazing vocalist.

Does it remind anyone else of one of Goldfrapp's Strict Machine- or did Goldfrapp in fact sample I Feel Love??

This track features in the brilliant documentary "Pump Up The Volume", which covers the history of house music.
