Actually, if you're out on Long Island in Suffolk County or in Southern Connecticut, tune to 105.3 (PARTY 105). They're the #1 station out here on the island for dance music. They played things like Ian Van Dahl's Castle in the Sky before it was played anywhere else. I haven't listened to them recently. HEre's they're current playlist: http://www.party105.com/playlist.htm

im pretty sure i heard the sound of goodbye and flight 643 on 92.7 ....
and even during the day...its a weird station ...they play all kinds of music..and all of the sudden they drop random trance songs out of no where...never know what to expect on it..

105.3 (party 105) and 92.7 sometimes carry the same programs.
they are both in Long Island I think

The Delerium - Innocente (tiesto mix) was in heavy rotation on 92.7
I have definately heard flight 643 many times on 92.7 as well.

As for Urban Train being "underground" I think this is a misnomer. I mean we just voted it track of the year!

Also, most tranceaddicts are only happy to see trance music being played and doing well. It is good for trance.

does 92.7 play live from webster hall anymore now that they stpoped tranzworld fridays? im not sure if they do.

anyways 92.3 has the transport hour from 2-3 am on saturday nites. but its ok, not great. for the most part trance in the ny area is pretty rare. 103.5 has their heads up their asses so they dont know what the hell to play. like nyczliquid said theyre still think mel c and gi gi d'agastino is the "newest trance"

Posted by TranceRob on Dec-25-2001 19:25:

Yeah, 105.3 is on Long Island and so is 92.7. They're owned by the same parent company. So, DJ Chris the Greek has a special show called the Island Undergrand which simulcasts on both stations I think. But usually, the stuff play on Party 105 and WLIR (92.7) are different. From 5 to 6pm weekdays, Party 105 has "Traffic Jam" where either DJ Armando or DJ Theo spin for the full hour. During the lunch hour of 12 to 1pm, DJ Armando spins. Fridays, an extended Traffic Jam from 4pm to 6pm is "Feta Cheese Friday" since Chris the Greek spins for 2 hours. They're descent DJs given the stuff they spin... it's alot of mainstream stuff mixed in with R&B and Hip-Hop. They play for the radio masses. I'd love it if they play only trance, but that'll never happen since the radio crowd wants to hear the stuff that masses like... Mel C, etc...

thanks for the info....

i was hoping none of the tracks i listed where played on the radio.....i want to keep it all underground...

Posted by TranceRob on Dec-25-2001 21:43:

Well, I haven't heard Tiesto's stuff on the radio yet on 105.3. iio I have heard on the radio. Kosheen and others too. But Tiesto is still pretty much underground on Long Island. I goto SUNY Stony Brook and some student promoter put up signs before Tiesto played at EXIT, and I recall people staring at the poster saying who's Tiesto? Alot of club out here have DJ's like DJ Skribble and local DJs from Party 105, and the occasional summer blast from more well known DJs. Only the true tranceaddicts know Tiesto and the good stuff

"Only the true tranceaddicts know Tiesto and the good stuff "

of course. thats why we're the tranceaddicts!

Satan (eek!)

why would you want to keep it "underground" in NYC?

Geez man, this is *THE* biggest CITY in North America, and TRANCE *SHOULD* be in FULL SWING.

I would rather have stations like ID&T and Radio 538, Radio 1 (BBC) or whatever else stationz that are geared towards electronica in general, be broadcasted in NYC

I guess the BAD SIDE is, gonna have bunch of a-holez/hookerz at places where good DJz do come and spin...but shit, there aren't really much trance DJz (damn I wanna see Marco V bad after hearing his live setz!) coming to NYC (as a resident). Hell, we don't even have any DECENT night spotz anymore If TRANCE was "big", the UPSIDE would be, more spotz/residenciez.

Bleh

HAPPY HOLIDAYZ NYC TRANCEADDICTZ!

to SYNthSRI
....i wanna keep it to stay undergorund because once the American mainstream gets a hold on our muisc they fill F*CK it up like thyey do every other type of music genre.....lokk at what happened to the RAVE scene after it became popular..it was destroyed.....

and you said this SYNthSRI
"If TRANCE was "big", the UPSIDE would be, more spotz/residenciez."..
WELL that is may be true..there may be more spots to go see DJs...but that would inturn mean more TRANCE HOPPING SANSTORMING kids who will go and ruin the whole scene like they already ruined Raves ....look at what the crowd was like at Exit, Factory, and Vinyl....the people there are crappy and only like whats HIP or whats the in thing to do.....not cus they LOVE the scene like we do..

TRUST ME...once the scene becomes mainstream we will have a scene filled with money hungry DJs and kids who go to parties only for bragging rights to their friends...that they where able to go to more parties then their other friend....

ok anyway...someone said they heard Kosheen on the radio...do you hear the track "Hide U" played?????

Posted by TranceRob on Dec-26-2001 04:05:

Yeah. It's Kosheen - Hide U. The only play it once in a while too... not like every hour. I've only heard it twice in the past 3 or 4 weeks on Party 105.

Smile Tongue

Mornin...
I see where you're coming from...the rave scene went to shit cuz of few reasons *ahem*Guiliani*ahem*, not just due to the influx of retardz tryin to be "hip".

No matter what, the fact of the matter is, TRANCE will never become mainstream here. Music industry is quite happy with pushing out hip-hop, r&b and we cant forget, 16 yr olds with breast implants as well as boy bands.

If you look at any European country, where electronica in general, is right up there next to the shite that we all are familiar with here. Wouldn't you rather be in a musical environment such as that?

Re: Money hungry DJz...they already ARE money hungry, just ask how much people charge per set/hour.

Personally, just would rather have people (yes, the juiceheads will alwayz be there!) go out and enjoy a day/night filled with the trance we all know and love.
