as far as i know, this is a tranceforum

i dont see any of us post a tranceremixcontest on a hiphop forum

Posted by EtherealSL on Oct-12-2005 07:28:

would be fun to kind of try new things... however, is there a way we can hear some of the stuff this label has already released? if they're strictly hip hop, then there's no point in trying to make a trancy remix or a dnb remix or an experimental remix.

Posted by canadian didjer on Oct-12-2005 19:39:

lolz i just jumped in there and made a remix..... if you guys wanna try it... here it is (i also emailed whoever was up at n.e.i):

Critical - (SeaWasp remix)

I think some of you purists are missing the point. I like electronic stuff (all sects of it) as well as hiphop. Are you telling me you're so closed minded to where you can't see yourself mixing something of your genre? Some of the greatest music ever made crossed genres. But hey, if its not something you're up for...SHUT THE FUCK UP WITH YOUR OPINIONS!!! Despite what you think I've already received several remixes from "your peeps". And to Teknasia, if you let go of your dick long enough and hit a hiphop forum with that idea of yours, you may get some fans.

Oh Tek one more thing, check your history. Cause if it wasn't for hiphop you wouldn't have a genre.

And if it wasnt for Industrial/EBM, you wouldnt have your genre. Trust me... you dont want to start a EDM debate with a trance addict. We got Ishkur, you cant win.

Posted by EtherealSL on Oct-13-2005 05:00:

lol uh oh... no wars, please...s

sir enajetic, you haven't responded to my post. you say some of the greatest music made has crossed genres... would your label look at remixes that have crossed genres (electronic & hip hop)

C'mon duke, you gotta come better than that. Now you're sustaining hiphop? According to some in this thread they shouldn't coexist. Which is it?

Posted by thoughtlessjex on Oct-13-2005 05:32:

Wewt. About time someone made hip-hop beats that weren't repetitive and boring.

Posted by d_enajetic on Oct-13-2005 05:35:

LOL. Hybrids duke, I love that shit. I'm from Detroit, one of the techno capitols, so hopefully that gives y'all a little insite on why I'm here. Trust me, since they started I've been to every Detroit Electronic Music Festival and not just for the hip-hop. I come in peace, but to those who want war, better come strapped.

Actually, trance and hip hop reflect two very different evolutionary chains of electronic music.

Hip hop led to breakbeats and to a lesser extent jungle, although you have to keep in mind that "hip hop" back then was the likes of Grandmaster Flash, Run DMC, etc., and not the gangsta/booty rap we hear everywhere today.

Trance was mainly a result of of the "disco sucks" movement, taking influences from Eurodance and Synth Pop, and to a lesser extent house music (which mutated from disco).

So - I've got nothing against good hip hop, in fact I've got a fair-sized collection of old school and underground hip hop myself. But it's got nothing to do with trance music!

Whaddup DigiNut,
Nice! Try this one...

Early 80s Hip-Hop > Breakdance & Electro > House > Techno > Industrial/Rave/Jungle/DnB/Ambient/Trance/Trip Hop/ etc.

Not saying I'm an expert, that's just how I saw it. Either way I like what you do and respect it.

no. plus there was no real hip hop movement in chi-town where house csame from. GARAGE however, did migrate from NYC to chi town to help form house, basically they sped it up and gave it some more bump!

try this.

HOUSE/TRANCE
disco>chicago>house>UK>REST OF EUROPE>trance

HIP HOP
Africa>jamaica>NYC> -->Garage>Chicago with drankie knucles levan, etc

so basically,

chilled out rnb hippish hoppish stuff, plus postdisco/disco sucks lack of funding plus cheap drum machines disco =

HOUSE
