Sick gotta get my paws on that
Thx fast
could someone please help me understand
First
Steve lawler was world renowned for his deep dardk twisted tribal
Then he introduced some unbelievably cheesy and commercial shit into his sets
Now he's playing electro ??
Am I the only one thinking that he'd play some Micheal Jackson if everybody else would do it and if his ego could grow bigger alittle more ?
KrinKer
ya this has way too much electro. not enough tribal
fuck tribal, it's so 2003 and 2004

Good call on the Faniculli Residency album, fast....SICK
Well Krinker, I am a HUGE Lawler fan.
Even with is sometimes shitty attitude, I just Love what he does.
The thing is, you can't blame the guy for changing. Even if I prefer Lights Out 1 (Cd2 is still my all time favorite CD as today), he was already playing a lot of electro-house. It's even more electro-house than tribal. He was ahead of his time.
Today he's playing less tribal, and his electro has become lighter, more happy, and the vocal sounds are more village (and I don't mean that in a negative way), less dark.
But one thing you can't say about Lawler, is that he's doing it easy. He's always ahead of his time, he takes mujsic very seriously, and he doesn't play the "usual" tracks that are popular and everybody plays. In fact, if the track as become popular, he's probably not playing it anymore. Most of the stuff he plays are hard to find or unreleased.
Good call man, GU Lights out CD2 is by far my favorite...along with Dark Drums 1. And you're right, like any good DJ he has to evolve.
He's was sick the last time I saw him live.
Yes. That CD 2... just changed everything for me.
Evolving is not always for the better, but if he was playing the same stuff, than I would say he is taking an easy ride, cause people almost begs him to play more drums. He's fighting against it to stay edgy.
Hell, I was playing techno not even 3 years ago, so he didn't change that much ;-)
You're right, but I think if a DJ stays on the same wavelength musically for too long it can become tiresome. For both the DJ and the fan. I think positive evolution in any musical direction for any DJ is important, like you going from Techno for example to your latest set. YOur style now is different but far more evolved if you know what I mean, more experienced in a way.
Can't wait till Celebration!
It must be very hard, when you are known as a top 50 DJ for the style you are playing, making money, having fans and a lot of bookings, and fight against all that to evolve.
That's why DJs like Tiesto will die with the style, when others like Timo always worked hard to stay sharp.

Ha ha,
well, I did get over it, cause I don't play at all like lawler is playing today. I don't have any influences anymore, and most of the time I don't like what I hear. Just do my own thing.Just go with my instinct.
And I can't argue about him playing live, cause I heard him only 2 times. The second time he left short in is set...
But I guess i'mn still on the impression of his excellent, best set I I ever heard 3 years ago. Blew my mind away. Very good mixer too. But he was dark back then.
As for me being bad at techno... lol. I was ok I guess. But give me a break, it was my first years as a DJ. Did you hear my Weird State of Mind mix? I still think it's pretty decent
