Many CDJ-1000 Scams on eBay lately - Beware

Only because I know a lot of guys are hoping to pick one of these up.

It seems like there have been a LOT of eBay scams for this CD player lately. It used to be that there were 5-6 at a time being sold on eBay. Now there are a ton of listings for these CDJs, and they are almost ALL scams.

http://search.ebay.com/search/searc...1000&category0=

They all use the same picture.
They all use the same selling points (I am selling these because I need the money).
They are all from different accounts at different locations of the world.

Some people are having their accounts hacked into and people are selling through their accounts and providing a different e-mail for Paypal purposes.

Buyer Beware.

the thing about emailing him for his buy-it-now price is a red flag.

Posted by ieko on Oct-12-2005 21:27:

Jesus, not even that, the "***only 700 usd 2 for units***free ship***brand new***" and then the actual asking price $5,100 is a tip off if I ever saw one.

They usually last half a day and then the auction is deleted ... but I think this shows a bigger problem that there's a huge security flaw somewhere on Ebay

Posted by SpecRadio on Oct-13-2005 00:41:

$1 and 21 hours left...holy shite. Even if it is a scam...I can brag to my friends I have two CDJ 1000's!

Posted by auujay on Oct-13-2005 01:36:

One other thing to check is what kind of items they have sold in the past. I picked some random auction from the search above and the seller had about 45 positive feedback. But they had never sold any electronic gear before and they mostly sold clothes and other little, random shit.

This is definitly a problem on EBay. Whenever I get something that costs more then $20 I usually only buy from a super seller that sells tons of that kind of item and has done so for awhile.

Its abit safer if they are local and you can go and see them and inspect the item before payment.

common scam

I contacted one of these guys a while ago.. if you look at View other auctions, they're all high priced electronics, such as Plasma TVs, CDJs, DV-Cams, etc. All are about 1/2 of the MAP, all brand new, etc ..

Anyway, if you email these guys, they said that they need the money quick and paypal only lets them pull out $500/day, so to use Western Union BidPay and they'll overnight it for free.. hmm can you say SCAM.

Whats really annoying is the process to report this is soo long and frustrating that i gave up reporting these idiots to ebay because it takes too damn long.

i pity the noobs that fall for this kind of shit

i got my brand new Denon DN-X1500 very cheap off ebay. But before i did a few things.

1. Made sure the guy had a an AWESOME rating. i mean over 3,000 feedback
2. Check the things he sold for their worth. making sure that he has sold many high priced albums and not just 1,000 different pennies off ebay.
3. made sure it had Paypal protection.
4. emailed him through the ebay website to make sure that i was getting a brand new mixer, that's retail, not a b-stock, used, or damgaged mixer.

The shipping was FAST and the price was cheap. I have NO compliants whats so ever. If you are stupid and buy 2 CDJ-1000's for $500 from a guy with a feedback of one... you deserve to lose you money

Posted by CRZtoshi on Oct-13-2005 07:31:

I contacted one of them foo's and they say to look up references... and if you look up the references on google you get this nice blog with many people who have come across these ******s... with the exact same emails but with different items.... such as plasma tv's and laptops and cdj1000s and etc....

on the brighter note check out the counter scam PPP-note book that some one pulled a joke on the scammers...

it's pretty funny!!!

i saw one of these scams a while ago for a pair of cdj-1000's for 700 bucks... i won the auction but then ebay contacted me and told me not to send him money. meh, chalk one up for a lesson learned in E-buying

a lot of these amazing offers occure when for some reason the seller doesnt promote properly and only two people actually view the item. then the bids end up low and when you win they say 'sorry, but im not willing to let these go for such a low price'

i won 2X techs 1210's in mint conditioion for 210 once and they told me to not send payment cos they werent selling them for so low.. at least they didnt take my money

ive got 2 cdj 1000's for sale. Im from Nigeria. My father just died and I need the money quick. The thing is though I can only take payment by the 10000's. SO if you send me a cheque for $10 000 Ill mail you back the difference.

You can get eBay to give them a bollocking for that, when they listed the auction they entered a legally binding contract to sell the item.

unless they set up a reserve.

if he won the auction then it was either above reserve or no reserve was set then.

a lot of positive feedback isn't always enough to be safe. I saw one of these scams recently, the seller had +3000 or so feedback. Strange thing was it was all in german and the account was reisgtered in germany, but the buyers location was a country town about 5 hours from sydney.

Alright I Investigate about this on Ebay yesterday, and sent an E-mail to the seller regarding information onthis item.

He Told me:
They are brand new , full 2 year warranty . The price is 450 GBP , free delivery
Thanks

I reply back, and told him that Pioneer does not offers Warranty over items sell on E-bay, and that I wanted actual pictures of the CDJ he was seeling me.

The guy haven't answer back. He didn't asked me where I was for the shipping and said it as free, Common if you really need money, you are not going to give away about 200$ just for shipping.

I am scary about E-bay, check this out

READ THIS IMEDIATELY!!!!! MAJOR SCAM! if you want to help, then you can copy this entire listing and keep spreading with different keywords in the title.

Currently there has been tremendous amount of stolen accounts on eBay and are advertising fake listings. On the auction they put an email address to contact them before you place a bid so you can buy the item from them right away for a fraction of the cost outside of ebay. This is fake! Do not contact anyone that has an email on their listing! Do not bid on these auctions. Just report it asap! These accounts belong to other people that probably dont have a clue that their accounts are stolen.

How to tell if the listing is fake:

1 - Email in the listing saying to contact them before you place a bid so you can buy it for fraction of the cost.

2 - Listed items will be in bold, highlited in purple, have a subtitle and will be listed in featured area when you search for that product.

3 - Some listings wont be highlited but will have a subtitle and words like " Free shipping" Best deal. etc..

4 - Sometimes the email will be at the bottom of the listing.

These links will take you to the fake listings: This is only some of the fake listings, but it would take way to long for me to find all of them. But this gives you an idea what to search for and avoid and report to eBay . There is virtually 100's or even more stolen accounts right now so the more people start reporting the faster we can shut down this operation.

I foudn this setup

http://cgi.ebay.com/Pioneer-DJM-600...1QQcmdZViewItem

I think the price it's more reasonable for an used item, but if this guy decides to make a fraud with me, then I'll have to wait a year or more to get my equipment. it's too risky I think..

Just out of curiosity i actually e-mailed a guy about a pair of CDJ 1000's and i got a reply. he wanted 600 GBP and gave me all this crap about how i WILL pay via western union bla bla bla

a load of bollocks basically

Posted by ste_johnstone on Nov-24-2005 16:25:

This is sooooo annoying to hear about because there are a lot of legitimate buyers and sellers out there!! you just have to be careful I reckon, scams are pretty obvious. whenever I sell anything I always take photos of what i'm selling and not use someone elses photos cos thats a big give away from what ive seen
