Dancing to trance

I know this topic was discussed many times before, but since the search function is f*cked up, I gotta make another topic about it.

First of all, does dancing to trance have a name?
And second, how do you dance? (You saw this question coming... )

Posted by ///M on Oct-14-2005 23:31:

feel the beat. do whatever you feel like the music makes you wanna do (kinda).

standing in the middle of the dancefloor, tapping your foot & complaining to your mates about how much better the music used to be 'back in the day', raising your arms every now and again during the breakdowns to make it look like you're enjoying yourself

Bingo!

Depends on the person, to me personally when i DJ or when i am dancing to a DJ the music is like a drug, no amount of alcohol or drugs could have the same effect as real uplifting trance to me.
Feel the break down, take in the atmosphere of the track and the crowd and when that beat drops back with the tune just do whatever the hell the music makes your body do. Doesn't matter what you look like because it feels good to you

pretend youre at a hardcore screamo concert and start throwing fists.

Thanks for quality reply.

I was worried that I (will) look stupid, but I guess it doesn't really matter.

It should come to you pretty much naturally.

I tend to find that it's hard to explain how to dance, and it's hard to show someone how to dance unless you're with the right music in the right atmosphere...when you're on the dancefloor in a club it just all comes together. I suppose the best thing is to try and move all parts of your body at the same time, i.e. a light foot stamp, move the knees and the hips, then just let your upper body flail around. Or you can just watch someone who you think is bustin' some cool moves, and copy him.

I wouldn't worry about it though - it's dark, everyone's tipsy, no-one's gonna care how you're dancing, and at the end of the day they're probably just as shit at it themselves.

That's what I was thinking of doing, but I suppose I'll just let the music guide me (sounds so cheesy) after all.

That's a killer.

Also depends on the place where you are dancing:

* packed: just wiggle
* fair amount of space: just shake and tap rhythmically and move your arms/hands in front of you (sort of)
* at an open field with a lot of space: wave your hands besides you and dance/walk around

Well, I'm not bad at it myself but describing it is a bit difficult. I like the 'shuffle' but can't manage to do it...

Works best with a fine woman directly in front of you.

+1

Who cares if you look silly, it's all about enjoying yourself.

Posted by Zombie0915 on Oct-15-2005 17:38:

yeah, just flail about in synchronization to the sounds, try not to flail with bad timing though, that seems to be pretty much the only rule. The nice thing about trance parties is that everybody looks like an idiot when they dance, so there is no pressure to be a good dancer and one can just flail about like a moron and still fit in. Alot of the time though there will be so many ppl on the damn floor that there is no room for moving, like tiesto at nation on a weekend, in those situations you are really better of staying away from the crowd if you dont want to catch a cold or whatever other nasty stuff ppl in the crowd happen to be carrying.

heh, overcrowded germ pool crowds are no fun at all, especially when they get all drugged up and dont pay attention when they start caughing on other people and stuff(sorry for that part of the post about getting sick, I had a bad experience at a tiesto party, NEVER AGAIN!)
