[Melodic Trance] Romi - Observing the Sky (final)

Hi there,

I'm busy with a new track. It's in the same style as one of my other tracks 'Technological World'. Here's 'Observing the Sky':

Here's the final (hq-sample):

checking, should be good as always

Solid as always Romi. The build up seems a bit monotonous but the break and lead are really nice as usual. However after listening to Technological world I do have to wonder, is this new track a remix of Technological world? There is not much difference between the two tracks after the leadsections kick in. That is because you have used the same lead sound and probably also the melodies are pretty much placed in the same key. Most of the melodies in your tracks seem to be in the same key. You might want to vary that a little bit more. Even though the notation of your leads is different everytime , your leadsections do tend to sound a lot alike.

In this track I think it is nice that you have used is a bit of a faster lead compared to some of your other tracks, therefore the track has more energy. I think I prefer this track over Technological world but mate you are copying yourself here

Cheers!

Sounds very professional, and it also gives a positive feeling.
I think everything still needs some work, including the melody.
Great work, and good luck completing this piece.

listening to the tune, the build up is indeed monotonous.

at 1:30 something the song stops in to a nice break. at maybe 2:14 the lead kicks in? at 2:30 the kick comes again and the lead sounds great! i cant critique the percs on this comp (inbuilt laptop speakers) wich suck but i guess they have the same standard as the rest of the song!

with more simply words, great tune!

i would have to dissagree a bit there. i would say the track shares some simularities but only within the style. why change a pretty original production style? i would possibly make the lead sound a bit more upfront for this one tho..

the melody is a lot more sophisticated compaired to technological world. as is the bassline.. i like the more long sounding notes to the bass on this one as well. i think a screaming powerful lead sound should complement the main lead at around 4;13 or just after the break.. maybe add to the energy a bit more..

nice stuff as always

great drive to begin with!

and you cut the build up down by a few mins it seems. really enjoying this. the whole thing sounds so much louder! the lead is cutting through so much more now. what do you apply to the final mixdown? do you have a mastering plugin or do you just add a final comp? also.... please can i have a version of this to play please

^Amen.

Awesome stuff mate. The drive you've generated is immense.

Posted by Nomen Nescio on Oct-17-2005 00:07:

hey Romi,

The finished product is outstanding Indeed the drive in this track is great. It has a lot more uptempo feel than many of your other tracks which will make this one more playable in clubs as well. For me you are one of the better producers here on TA and you have developed yourself quite a bit in just a few months time.

By the way with the copying yourself remark I was only refering to the leadsound and the key you use for your melodies. The fact that your tracks are recognisably Romi is really good in my opinion as well.

Keep it up mate! Looking forward to a new track of yours!

Heey man, great track! I love your melody! Great climax... nothing but compliments 2 u!

Excellent tune man, sounds completely pro, from production through arrangment and melodies. Keeps a good energy level going throughout, although there could have perhaps been another dynamic change in the latter part of the song. Bloody nice tune! Well done

Amazing in every aspect! Great compilation! You are one of the best producers I've heard on TA yet.

I liked the first version a lot better then the second... But a bit Phatter Pad wouldn't be out of place I think...but that's my opinion....

Great track anyway... My kind of Trance.... Keep it up...

Your friendly ghost of Mozart

Thx for the comment Mozarts ghost. I just don't really understand the bit about the previous version. This is the original first version.

Posted by Stino on Oct-19-2005 17:29:

great tune ron but i think your mix down of the synthwork is messy. Everything is packed in the middle frequencies and it makes it sound very blurry. I also think the stereo spectrum could be filled better.

Then about the track itself. I think your intro is to monotone, nothing really hooks me in the intro...it just goes and goes without orginal elements or unexpected stuff happening. Break now, nice sounds, the synth that is playing sounds a bit thin. The real main synth is coming up now, i like the sound of it, melody cannot bother me though. Then the bassline comes in, sounds better now. All of a sudden the kick comes in, would like to hear some sort of reversed stuff there. Climax is disappointing, almost boring. I think you should try not to reveal all sounds already in the climax. You use AND the strings AND the leads AND all the other sounds straight at once in the climax, and i hear those same things looping from the beginning of the track which makes the climax rather boring, it brings nothing new to it.

Dont get me wrong, you got some great sounds going on hear, the bottom line of the track is awesome and so are the percs, but structure wise and mixing wise i would change some stuff.

Stijn

Posted by Romi on Oct-19-2005 19:22:

Thanks for your comments Stijn. Keep in mind that the version you listened to is a 64k wma file which is the main reason why some levels are a bit off imo, the original wav file sounds just right.
