HappyHappy I <3 Cox!

what a fucking awesome night!! toooooootally made up for fucking holden last night.. thank fuck for that!

the line was around the damn corner at midnight but it was wellllll worth it!!!

great seeing everyone, avikonen, KELLY! (yankeebaby), brian/vtec, vadushka/bobby, ryan/groundhog boy, jay & meredith!, john/pyro, tom/enigma, [edit: indy too for 3 seconds! and AJ's brother Dave! sorry i mixed you 2 guys up! :X ] and of course, billy & cam the TA lurkers!!

the music was GREAT, the vibe was AWESOME and i Love the new CO2 machines that crobar has!!! i never experienced it before and it reminded me *slightly* of amnesia in ibiza... great stuff..

uhh..puff daddy rockin it out @ crobar again.. alright alright, he's been into the scene for a while now, so it's apparent he really does love dance music.

i really have to lay off the alcohol, seriously. i would have stayed longer if i didn't drink and if crobar had SOMEwhere to friggin sit.

regardless, all i have to say is:

you were there?

Anyway, my review:

sums up what I thought of Carl Cox.

My first time seeing Cox. And I have to agree with Dani, everything was on point. Music, vibe (I had room to breathe), and hell even the CO2 machines were great!

Yeah, I wasn't that surprised that puff daddy/p. diddy/sean combs (what the fuck is he called these days) showed up at Crobar since I've read that he's also dig the big black Cox

I would have stayed for afterhours with Victor Caledrone had my feet weren't killing me

Room to breathe???? Where the hell were you? Tonight was one of the most crowded nights that I've seen at Crobar. Thank god he was so amazing. Barosoap just told me "stop bobbing your head, there's no music anymore," but I'm still hearing how great he was in my mind. I kind of wanted to stick around a bit after Calderone came on at 6, but Christina wanted to go because it was getting a bit crackie-guido for her. Only tracks that I remember were:
Morillo Romero & Nunez - Dancin (Angello Ingrosso's Metallica Is Dancin Booty Mix)
Mad 8 - Work This Pussy (which was when Diddy was onstage)
Spektrum - Kinda New (Tiefschwarz Dub)
Full Blown - Some Kinda Freak

Also, Loco Dice was one of the most energetic openers that I've seen. Definitely had the place going strong earlier than usual.

Good seeing Trunks, Verndogs, Lunasea, vtec, hitokiri, avikonen, kidnyce, thero40.

People are still calling Diddy Puff Daddy? Get with it. It's "Diddy" now

But who the fuck cares I guess
Need to see my twin live one day. Had to fuckin work

YESSS!!! I knew he would kill it! More ID's anyone?

As for myself, I saw Kai Tracid last night... It was fun though.

when i saw the line with my friend at around 12 30am it was wasnt that long maybe up to the guy who sells hotdogs and shishkaboobs, so we decided to go have a few drinks and come back later , so we come back later around 2:45 ish the line was crazy it was almost up to the end of the block around 10th ave. so we decided not to wait and went home , I guess we shouldve stayed in the begining and just waited a little but o wells maybe next time. thats good that everyone had fun!!!

Posted by jurel on Oct-16-2005 14:35:

yeah, i have to agree with groundhog boy and ask where was there room to breathe? you must of been really wasted or something
personally, i thought the warmup dj sucked major balls. The electro bs he was playing was utter garbage, no flow to his set, and mixing was way off :/ Totally killed it before cox.

Cox comes on and does a great job! but i left kinda early cuz of the musclebound guidos that didn't shave their arms the night of and were cutting through the crowd, literally, with their prickly arms.

I'd go see cox again, but damn.. get a legitimate warmup dj
someone had told me cox would come on around 1230-1 because at 4 calderone was taking over or something.. guess its my fault for coming too early :P

Yeah it was packed, but it was nowhere near as bad as Armin a few weekends ago.

i had plenty of room to dance too- the secret is to stand (if you're facing the booth) all the way on the right side, basically 5-10 feet in front of the right-back speaker, against the VIP rail.

The line was pretty long basically the night from 11:15 til i left @ 5am (the line was still a good 100+ feet long). we got online around 11:45 and it was BARELY moving but luckily, everyone had bought tickets and not us- and the bouncer told all NON-ticket holders go to the front of the line and cut all ticket holders!! i was like *not asking any questions, just moving quickly*

LocoDice is very much an acquired taste. i've been listening to them for about 1.5 years and i JUST started realizing that they are absolutely incredible to me-- but you have to appreciate very minimal stuff in order to get into them in the first place.. and i know exactly what you are talking about with the 'flow' -a lot of minimal DJs/groups will basically throw down a bunch of beats/cut thru and thru and just make this motley collage of a set... once again, takes a while to get used to but i respect your opinion nonetheless

i would assume that his heart/health problems might have something to do with his weight loss. and he drinks a lot more water now.

sorry i missed it but glad you all had a blast!

Posted by iheartny on Oct-16-2005 18:30:

I <3 Carl Cox too! I cheered every time he spoke into the mic, although I had no idea what he was saying. Did anyone else get annoyed at the fat chick dancing on stage to Cox's right? YUCK. I'm ragging on her only because the bitch sprayed water (I hope that was water) into the crowd when someone from the crowd probably told her fat ass to get down. And I got splashed.

I was hoping the place would start clearing out around 4 but it was still packed! We didn't stay for Victor... was he by any chance the guy wearing the Victor <3 Cox shirt?

Posted by LuNaSeA on Oct-16-2005 18:55:

hehe, i guess i can see where you're coming from, but to me.. i can't wait 1.5 yrs to acquire that taste! =))))
You have a few hours to warm us up, thats it
When egdar v spins before pvd or when back in '99-00 when scumfrog used to warmup for roger sanchez for example, now that = a great night all around

haha yeah really, even the ones with shirts on had their forearms all fucked up. is this the new thing? spiking up your arm hair?

This was one sick ass party. The crowd was ehh but the vibe was good, no fights or problems. Prob the most packed i've seen Crobar, but it was worth it. His set was all energy with driving bass till the very end. Def gonna check him out next time as well.
