Dirt - Nem (Along time coming but here it is)

It's been some time since I braved the production forums and with good reason. Everytime I come back here I hear people with fantastic sounding tracks with awesome production skills. Makes me jelous everytime.

I have had a busy summer so haven't really had a chance to enter the studio but here is a little something I have been working on.

Haven't had a chance to EQ and sort some issues out yet but will get around to that some time

Dirt by Nem (Yes this is the link so click here)

It's a filthy little number with a little chug.

Give it a whirl and let me know what you think.

Cheers
Nem

firstly thanks for checking my music. ill repay the favour

the beats- very hard with loads of attitude. as is the grittyness of the first minute. the distorted lead... very original and cool sounding. hate that drum roll tho

loving the arrangement you got going down. it creates a great drive. with the distorted lead i would lower the vol in the mix cos its a bit too loud. break it nice and thoes drum that come in are really 'rock' i love em!

reminicent of sander van dorne. i would probably add a long note bassline and quieten the distorted lead.

great and original overall. 9/10 an the best track ive heared here in a while!

edit: any chance of this as a high bitrate when its done? i really do like this

Yup, I hate the drum roll too, it's one of those things that's been bugging me for a while and is on my list of things to do but haven't got round to.

Glad you like it, if you want I can send you a CD made from the WAV.
Send me a PM with the details.

Thanks again

Thanks for listening.
I do have some more traditional trance tracks but honestly speaking, I can never really come up with the goods although I really wish I could, but I guess I will just have to stick to the filth.

Hi,

Good shit, percussion for the intro is awesome, wierd snare effect but a cool breakdown. That synth is awesome, beats work with me mate. The kick in is great, i luv the track, very tech, a few sampled loops in there that sound like from VEC but its still cool.

Yup, I know the EQ needs a lot of work.
Just thought I would throw this out here to see what response it got.

Thanks for the review mate.

Thanks man, glad you like it.

Yup, I think it's two loops that are sampled but they have been mashed up a little with band pass filters.

The lead is just Xtreme Bass from the FM7.

Once again, thanks for listening.

Greatings Nem...

To begin with I'm not that familiar with this side of Trance, so I'll just spit it right out... This track, with some editing and maybe a couple of hours of work at "expanding" the lead into a bit more melodic riff and give it a slightly softer touch, will be an absolute floorfiller.... Of that I'm sure...

I enjoyed anyway...

Bah, softer touch... my codlings!

I do write melodic stuff too but find it's getting a little old. Sometimes I write tracks where I just try to capture energy rather than a melodic master piece. If you check out a lot of Marco Vs stuff you will find similar ideas although I wouldn't ever suggest that I was as good as him.

I think that problem with this forum is that everybody is still doing the same old shit and trying to sound like other people without trying to find their own sound.

Don't get me wrong, there are some fecking awesome producers here but sometimes ideas are a little thin on the ground.

Thanks for listening though and I'm glad you liked it. All the best.

Nice sounds dude, good production. Percs sound crisp.

makes a change to hear something a grittier than a Chesney Hawkes Remix!

Posted by vrahnos on Oct-18-2005 16:12:

maybe its my idea but this track reminds me dj tatana
the only thing i dont like about this track is the snare drum, you need to cut off a few high frequencies from the main synth, its too loud.
nice synths & effects!
you have 8.5/10 from me!

Posted by Nemesis44 on Oct-18-2005 16:29:

Thanks guys,

Yes, I agree the snare is something that needs to go. It was only really placed there so that I could have a place filler while I was writing and regretably I haven't removed it yet. But it will happen.

Thanks for the overall comments as well much apreciated.

Cheers

sounded good to me.. You've aimed for a gritty, angry and energetic theme which I think you did brilliantly. Good stuff!

If you're satisfied with it, then don't change it

EDIT: I could easily see this in a kick-ass action movie

played this one tonight! didnt get the high bitrate soon enough tho... oh well cheers and ill be sure to use it next time!

jeeze did this one work the dancefloor! it sounded so dirty loud.. and the kick was epic. played it between roman fugel-ghets noch?(skint) and 'verdi' by picotto. the night was for my university union halloween night where my outfit 'universal nation' took over the second room. started the night with 'the killers' and 'the bravery' style music and worked into electro thu to full blown trance. this track sat somewhere in the middle of the night.

what a corker!

Thanks for playing this. It's great to get some good feedback from where it counts.
Sadly I haven't had the opportunity myself. Been playing mostly Electro house sets lately and I think that some of the people might get a heart attack if I threw that in... he he.

Once again thanks for that.

Pretty tight track. High end seems to be a tad loud but other then that all sounds very spot on. Lots of energy too.

Hi... really cool track. This is really original. Not many complaints, only that some of the sounds seem to have some really high frequencies which nearly hurt the ear, you should maybe cut some highest frquencies from certain sounds. The lead sounds nearly like a heavy metal guitar! Really nice to see something really authentic and original stuff here!! I would add some melody to the track but Im a real melody-freak so dont mind about this comment...

Cheers, Lakeus

Btw check out my track and leave some comments if youre interested...

cheers mate. ill do the same!

the crowd were very open minded/drunk and a rammed dancefloor all night! i guess that allowed the night to be very eclectic in style. the set was largely electro and techy stuff and the track fitted very well.
