F.e.a.r.

Wicked game, I think I'm only about half finished it but it's an awesome shooter, it just feels different than most although the slow-mo makes it a little too easy sometimes.

Definately worth buying though, multiplayer is a lot of fun too.

I <3 this game. Normally I'm not a FPS gamer but this is a good one.

I'm at the part where I'm on my way to the underground facility, I hope I'm not almost finished.

This game is way too easy, it takes all of two or three nights to beat it on the hardest difficulty.

My new goal = beating it without using slow-mo.

was i the only one who nearly shit my pants when alma appeared at random locations?
anyways, this game is great. love the 'realism' of it
btw how is it running on your computers? im playin full detail/vfx at 800x600 smoothly, but if i put it up to 1024, it's almost unplayable. what resolution do you play in?

alma really doesnt scare me too much, the only thing thats really made me jump so far was when i was walking down a hallway and a body came crashing through the glass to the left of me.

Edit: Currently at Interval 7, about to head into the executive building to find alice.

just out of curiosity, not looking for spoilers or anything but when can i expect to find out some more information on alma? So far i've only encountered her briefly a few times, but still haven't really found out much about her, or met up with her.

The only part that had me going what the fuuuuuuuuuuuuck was the ending of the game, otherwise it didn't freak me out at all. Best part of the game were those invisible camo'd ninjas, they were badass. Oh and piercing people to the wall in random, awkward positions with the armour piercing gun.

P4 2.93Ghz
1 Gig of RAM
Geforce Nx6600GT

I run it at full resolution and high detail.

When you head into the underground facility you'll find out a hell of a lot more of what happened but that's close to the end. Keep checking out the information on the phones and laptops though for clues.

I never kept track. After you save Alice there are 2 more intervals though, possibly 3.

i havve the game but haven't played it yet, i'm scared of the little girl in singleplayer

Posted by Blue. on Oct-25-2005 23:14:

I'm on Interval 6 and doing quite well without the slow-mo. Mind you that you need some pretty good tactics for it but once you've beaten the game you know where enemies come from and what they do and all you really need to do is save your trip mines and remote bombs for certain times and use your normal nades sparingly.

After this I'll wait for mods or let it sit for a few weeks before trying it without slow-mo on a harder difficulty.

nice setup blue.
those stealth ninjas or whatever.. man i hate them.

once i started to play f.e.a.r. i found the story as very bad and cheap. but now, once i'm through the game, it's actually kinda cool and elaborate. good game

i think there's like 9-11 intervals? can't remember

Just use slow-mo and it's fairly easy, you need to get them right when you see their outlines, you just turn it on and empty a few rounds into them.

yeah, slow-mo and a shotgun round to the face kinda makes them stfu there's nothing as satisfying as giving them the old jump + kick combo too

I just started using that, it's most satisfying when you wait for a gaurd to come around the corner

Beat it the other day. There are 11 Intervals. The last interval really is mostly a cinematic though...

All, in all I think it was a good game, but thought that the last level was a bit weak. Like it almost feels like that they were rushed for time or something and had to wrap things up. I mean, it was certainly still enjoyable, but I feel they could have made the end of the game much better.

Posted by Shudder on Oct-28-2005 18:30:

thats a disappointment, i was hoping the game would be bigger than 11 intervals

edit: i started playing from interval 7 onward without with slo-mo and without a crosshair. pretty challenging.

The very end of the game was freaking awesome but it was too short and too easy so it's a lot more fun to just make up your own restrictions ie. only using automatic weapons.

The pistol and shotgun > all, if I could just use those for the whole game I would have been happy although the armour piercing gun is fun as well.

Not as good as Half Life 2 IMO but they're different types of games. Most of F.E.A.R takes place indoors and what isn't indoors doesn't exactly offer a huge landscape to soak up or anything like that. It isn't like Half Life 2 where you stop to admire the water or anything like that.

That being said the physics are awesome, no Half Life 2 but still wicked, especialy when you pin someone to the wall with the armour piercing gun and they just sway back and forth for a second .

Scary? Not to me but it all depends on what scares you, it probably does scare most when played on the right computer with the right sound system and in the middle of the night.

The plot is fair but predictable and drags on at points to the point where you just kind of give up on it and it's repetativeness.
