Danny Howells in Ottawa

Just read that Howells is probably coming to Ottawa in December! Just another big dj to add to the list of up and coming craziness in Ottawa. Aren't you glad you decided to move just when the club scene here is getting moving Kate?

don't knock the well!
it had character.. and was the best club going 'in the scene' other than Atomic back in da day, open 7 nights a week.

little known fact but Carl Cox played there too in 96
as did many a dope djs.

Helsinki is a nice looking place for sure though... albeit very pink!

weeeerd. That's why it sucks when people think the Ottawa 'scene' is just getting decent.. truth is.. it *used* to be, then went downhill about a year before Atomic closed. The main reason it can be described as 'better' these days is because at least there are several promoters who can do a booking on any given weekend.

There will always be a lot of memories for the people that used the frequent "a-town" as it was referred to often enough... a *vibe* that I don't think will ever really be captured again, to no fault of the current promoters, just a fact.
kinda like the early days of sona.

Wow good call Kate!!! You remember the different colour keychains they had at Atomic for different regulars..Gold, and Blue I think, wow, that place used to rock, solid crowd and venue, and ERA

Sounds like we should have a TA party at my house!

Posted by BigStu on Oct-18-2005 13:09:

So sick! I feel stranded in Brockville. I'm trying to get my finger on the pulse of the Ottawa action. So, Helsinki, Surface.... somebody told me last night somethign about Lawler in Ottawa in the next few weeks. Is this true? How do I find out more about the Ottawa scene? Do Surface and Helsinki have good tunes even on normal weekends (i.e., no big guest DJ)?

Thanks in advance!

Stu

Scratch one of those questions. Found the Lawler thread... all of a sudden there's a party to go to on Thursday!!

I've been needing this for MONTHS!

What's the dress-code/security buzz at Surface? Compared to say... System Soundbar or Guvie in Toronto?

seems like a really nice place
