Your DJ Name!

It wouldn't hurt if I changed my DJ name, it's getting to a point where I better do it soon, or I'll be stuck with it, so it is a priority, but I suck at this kind of thing.

So what is your DJ name/alias, and how dd it come to you?

(Mind you I searched, but got nothing, and an update wouldn't hurt)

Reason:

Thing is the last flier had that DJ name of mine on it, which I didn't like, I gave the owner a promo cd and wrote down "mixed by: [my name]", yet he still put the awful dj name on it.

So I better make one fast, the second flier is a bigger event and that has the crap name on it...but not the third flier no, I must change it by then.

Inspire me!

Use your real name - sounds more professional. Unless you have some freaky weird unpronouncable name like ... Tijs Verwest

Even if i was good enough to have a dj name.. i wouldn't use my nickname. Simply cause it'd be GAY! lol

Dj nelly, lol how many of them are there out there. My real name is Steven Neligan so that's where nelly came from (my second name, although it's not pronounced nelly, more nelegin)

Anywho, Dj names as Aquarian has said are sometimes a bit tack, using your real name or a simplified version of it is often a safe bet. Ask your close friends what they think you should use. Your mates would know you best surely?

nelly.

My closest friend was the one who caused me all this shit with the dj name. Right now it is DJ 'Rawguy'

Awful, just awful. I play house/techno... I don't want a rap/hip-hop/homosexual sounding name. (Raw? That could mean anything.........)

I struggled to come up with a name for myself for a long time, until one day it came to me.. How about my mothers name? A bit of a tribute you know?

I just took out the first to letters (Ch) because I didn't want people to think I was female haha.

Well first of all I thinkl you hsould decide the name by yourself,

That is just so common nowadays

DJ "Your Name"

if you don't want to use your name "Alone"

then just use whatever comes to your mind, you can add the DJ if you want, but adding the DJ to a person name I think there are thousands and your name would nto be noticeable.

about my DJ name, well its "Pepa", and it wasnt so hard to get it, it is just a nickname that people call me since I was a child.

DJ Tom Proctor

Or Tom Proctor...

I found my name by searching for music related words in the dictionary. then i came across the word rhapsody. So thats my DJ name DJ Rhapsody. according to merriam it means a musical composition of irregular form having an improvisatory character hence what djing is kinda about (the improv part).

Bear this in mind though http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=271313

haha

(read as much or as little into the thread linked above as you like, a few people took it a tad too seriously and personally but at the same time I stand by my opinions)

im having problems as well. i would just use my name...but my name sounds gay. Brandon Fleeman. <---I think that sounds pretty queer.

My friends have referred to me as Flea for many many years...but I think Flea would be just a tad bit gayer.

Actually, read it before.

And I agree, I never intended to put DJ in front of my name.

Damnit, I can't think of a name!!!

What's your real name?

Try this: http://weblogs.about.com/gi/dynamic...djname/quiz.php

I joke. The thing is, in the UK people tend to think just about any foreign name sounds cool as a DJ/producer name for some reason... I've got a mate who calls himself Octavio Callari - sounds Italian or something but he's actually from the north somewhere haha

So maybe you could just use your real name... or just your surname? Could work well as a producer name in particular, have a think

Lol, will do.

But in the mean time how does 'Ragadozo' sound?

Raga is in my last name... it means predator in Hungarian.

?

i didn't want dj in front my name but people put it on anyway so in the long run its whatever people want to call me. DJ rhapsody seems to be in their memory banks

Posted by Euphorica on Oct-18-2005 05:12:

I still cant find a name, i havnt done any proper gigs yet so thats ok. For when people ask what to write on a mix cd i just tell them to put down my nick name Tommy or Toomy but as if thats gonna do. As for my TA nickname... i dunno what i was thinking.
My name is Tom Gangemi and most people cant pronounce it because its said Tom Gan-jemi (Its Italian).

Edit:spelling

Posted by spdandpwr on Oct-18-2005 07:55:

2000 tommy sounds pretty cool to me...i think worring about a name is dumb because there are so many dj's out there who have stupid dj names anyways. there is one kid who calls himself dj yellow snow...
