Tiesto, In My Memory...
Okay, I just took a quick listen to the Tiesto - In My Memory CD.
Is it just me that finds this CD... how do I put it... not even comparably close to his others! Don't get me wrong, there are some great tracks with some good beats, but I find this album to be a little... hum... boring.... or... well, I really, can't find the words. But nonetheless, I am not that happy with this album.
I've heard Tiesto live, twice, and each time he has... for a lack of better words... "kicked the shit out of me", twice!
Nothing on this CD does that, except for maybe 2 or 3 tracks. What is wrong with it? Why does it seem like Tiesto is taking his music in a different direction? What happened to that deep, dark, hard Tiesto sound, or even that epic, uplifting sound he got me throwing my arms up to? I know it's still there... somewhere.
Please don't start trashing me or telling me I don't know what I'm talking about, but I want to know if anyone else is hearing the same thing I am?
Do you think Tiesto is taking his music in another direction?
i'm looking for the picture that says hello and welcome to last week
I think Tiesto is always in diferents directions, thats a good thing for me, about In My Memory.. umm.. i like almost all the tracks, Specially Track 1: is very deep and dark in some parts of the song, Track 4 - In My Memory is good too.... and well Urban Train and Flight643 are greats too... when i get the album in the begin i didnt like too much neither but after few listened is one of my favorites albums now.... well.... thats all i can say... take care.
I wish he would steer more to uplifting nowadays. There is already too much progressive (i know theres never "too much") but theres a lach of great uplifing tunes in this time period. hope his style interchanges or completely changes in this new year...just my opinion
damn straight! in my memory sucks, he needs to go back to uplifting.
I listened to Lord of Trance a few dayz ago cuz i dug it up from my MP3 bin, and i was like "damn, this semi-cheezy uplifting track with annoying vocals is more entertaining than Tiestos new shit!" uh huh.
i'm sorry i don't think it sucks. its actually very relaxing
as paul van dyk once saidf "some tracks sound great in a live set, uve got the lights, the crowd, the atmosphere, and a banging tune, but u cant take all the feel of a nite out and the atmosphere into a cd, u have to be there, so some tracs sound top in the club, but u put them on cd and u think, "what da hell??" " which is basically the same, thats why pvd doesnt like releasing albums, coz u expect it to be the same as sets, when thats just not possiable

Wel i like most of the album, i think in genaral all albums need to be listened to a few times
well yeah it is a grower....
but i too spank on the in search of sunrise nowadays and reminice
I totally agree with you mortyman. I can't agree though that it will grow on you. It bored the shit out of me and i listened to it many times and i still don't like. Its a damn disappointment. im just waiting for the remixes of the tracks. Take Urban Train for instance. The original track in my opinion is boring as hell, but when i hear the cosmic gate remix i go nuts.
its just one album, i dont think he's steering away from uplifting i mean just listen to urban train!
Well, I agree with Coup!! Some tracks sound better live!! But i think Tisto is just exploring new horizons. It is a Cd that has to grow on you! I like to listen to it after a party, to chill out! Try it and you will learn to love it, but give it some time! The songs are very well produced!!
GREETZzz... CaBaL
Yep, this album is just exactly not what I wanted to spend my money on, but I did, poo
In My Memory is a nicely produced album! I loved the entire CD!
Some of you need to learn not to highten your expectations of what the albumn is like.
In my opinion, this albumn is really good.
Like Tiesto said in an interview "Come with an open mind, and expect the unexpected"
I thought all the tracks were in the right places and flowed descently without it being mixed.
Sucks????????
Who da hell said that "In my memory" sucks?
That is one of the best albums that were created in the world. All kind of trance are mixed, Tiesto did an amazing job at progressive (Obsession), uplifting (Saburban Train, Flight) and new age (Close to you and Battleship Grey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
Lets just say it straight - In my memory was created not for kids, this is seriuos music comparable to Jean Michael Jarre, Deep Forest and Enigma.
This is not Darude....
To understand In my memory you have to listen to it more then once, and then in couple of weeks you are gonna start liking it.....guaranteed.

I am happy Tiesto was original enough and bold enough to make a cd with a different sound.
I think he said somehere about this album
"it shows that I am not just another ferry corsten"
I don't think he meant this in a bad way, and I think they are still friends, but I agree that no one is better than ferry corsten at spinning the stlye of trance that he spins, and tiesto also has a style his own and can create new stlyles on his own.
I think that "In my memory" is a good album, not great but good. Tiestos productions are very profesional and Urban Train for example is one of the best tunes Ive ever heard.. Still I can relate to he who said its a bit boring. Its a good chilled out album, but I just dont listen to it at all really any longer..
And Close To You is a track I cant stand..
Having that said, I want to add that I think Tiesto is one of the best DJs in the world..
Happy New Year!

In search of Sunrise 1 is better
Tiesto wouldnt be the pioneer he is if he stuck to producing the mainstream shit that everyone pumps out like its goin out of style. You cant expect everything he puts out to be the same cuz then we would start calling him a darude. Tiesto has style and that style is what is going to keep us guessing and wanting more of his productions. You have to respect the man and his work. I mean this album has something for everybody on it. Its not all the same and why should it be? He would only attract one audience. Electronic music has many forms and if you are going to release an album you would probably want to try to create a spectrum of tracks so that different genres can use his tunes and that way he gets more recognition. My hat is off to this man and what he has done for trance music.
