working during vacation

so there's this guy at work that's on vacation this week yet the focker keeps showing up and doing work. it's really annoying because he comes in and like announces, "im on vacation but im here working." its like i think he might believe theres some sort of award for doing this. anyone else have people at work that do this?

I have come into the office to do work while on holidays. I don't make a big announcement but sometimes you just have things that need to be taken care of and if you are not doing anything why not get it done.

there's a difference between coming in to work during a holiday and coming in to work when you're on vacation

it's kinda sad this dude has nothing better to do with his time off...

Posted by bas on Oct-20-2005 15:46:

what a gimp, he's probably just showing off. you should take a shit in a box and fedex it to him.

Posted by lcid on Oct-20-2005 15:51:

what's the point? why would you take vacation days and then come into work??

i can see working on holidays to get some extra cash, but spending your vacation time at work is absurd.

Sorry...meant vacation...one in the same to me.....a day not at work is a vacation/holiday....either way...I have come in when on vacation.

Not always....I will come in for a couple hours sometimes when I am on vacation...just to catch up on my mail and phone calls. It really depends on the work you do. If i take a week off it probably costs me $3-$4,000.00 in bonuses

So you can potentially make $12,000/month in bonuses alone? What line of work are you in?

he probably has no social life, no friends, and no where to go to enjoy his vacation, so he comes to the only place where he feels at least somewhat accepted, his work, to get away.

pity the guy, don't hate on him.

either that or he's trying to make some mad cash. meh
