Question ISP & PS2 settings???

I have a question to anyone that uses their PS2 for online gaming. I've been trying to hookup my Playstation2 and cable modem up together for quite some time and its been giving me serious issues!

I have comcast as my ISP and when i try hooking my cable modem directly into the PS2 it keeps telling me that the DNS server cannot be located or something of that nature. I do have a router, but even when i hook the router up (internet cable ---> router ---> cpu & ps2), my cpu doesnt recognize the internet connection AT ALL!

Thats when i decided to try going from the modem directly to the PS2 which the websites and directions state can be done, but even that isnt working. Any1 else have similar issues or can guide me into the right direction? Its been irritating me as of late

Try this.

1. Disconnect your cable modem's power from the wall.
2. Hook the modem into the router.
3. Hook up the necessary connections from the router to the pc, and ps2.
4. Make sure the computer is off.
5. Power on the router, than the cable modem.
6. Once the modem is connected to the network and everything, than power on the computer.
7. Check to see if the ps2 works.

it's a router correct, and not a hub?

I have my PS2 and PC connected to an 8 port switch by Netgear, Both are sharing the same internet connection, What you need to do is setup the network settings on your PS2's ethernet adapter for it to connect on the network, The ethernet adapter should have come with the CD to set it up on the PS2, Once it does, Your PS2 will be assigned it's own personal IP which starts with a 192 number.
