only girls need manicures

Posted by kr00t0n on Oct-22-2005 18:13:

I know a bunch of ladies who say ugly hands/nails is a big turn off.

I don't manicures are needed per say, but keeping your fingers trimmed and clean and whatnot helps

Er .

I cut my own nails and shave my own face, and I'd burn my CD collection before I paid someone else to do it - worse.

And massage. Come on. WTF do you need massage for?

the real question is why don't you need a massage?

Because I can relax my own muscles.

Posted by jonSun on Oct-22-2005 18:22:

I get manicures whenever I can. My hands look great then. But i'd rather shave my face myself. I have let a chick shave down below b4, when I had injurys & couldnt myself.

Posted by DJ Cinos on Oct-22-2005 18:26:

Er again. What exactly is a manicure? They cut your nails, right?

NOW WHY THE HELL WOULDN'T YOU DO THAT YOURSELF? What's the difference?

Eh. I have no idea what "cuticles" are so I'll just say it's an unnecessary practice.

why wouldn't you want to look your best just for yourself? doesn't that just make sense? i feel sorry for people that don't care about themselves...

I look my best without paying for others cutting my nails and shaving my sparse facial hair.

Posted by Floorfiller on Oct-22-2005 18:47:

well i'm not saying that you have to have people do your nails, but you make it seem like it's wrong to care about the way you look...or to enjoy life...

I don't look my best because there is no best. No one look is inherently better or worse than any other.

People should worry more about their health and less about how they look. If people spent as much time training as they do with things like this, our population wouldn't be 55% fat and 44% skeletal.

well i think health is directly connected to appearance...especially mental health. would you disagree?

It's just wrong to focus overly much on it. Looks aren't everything. Not even nearly.

EDIT: People should focus on what really matters - your mind.

yeah i can agree with that, but you also don't know me as a person and i wouldn't say that i'm so narcisstic that i can't also be a good person...

edit: and i focus a lot on intelligence...that's important to me too.

i think you'd probably find that more often then not people that care about themselves physically, care about other aspects of life as well...

Yes, I would - at least to a degree. An obsession with one's physical appearance is hardly healthy, and basing your estimation of your self-worth on how you look is even worse.

I see almost as many underweight people as overweight people - especially among women. It's probably because they think they look better that way, but all they're doing from my point of view is keeping themselves in poor physical condition.

I don't have anything against people who want to look a certain way unless they're harming themselves in a more important way to accomplish that goal whether it be their health (under-eating) or their finances (if they can't really afford the products/services they use.)

Personally, if anyone's interested, I'm a normal-weight and very untrained guy.

Is there some way to make training interesting? I trained weekly at a gym a few years ago, but it seems I'm allergic to muscles and a good condition, since I never noticed any gains.

Different people find different things interesting. Sitting in a gym has never really been my thing so I try to make small workouts out of little things I have to do anyway, for example when I carry the groceries into the apt I'll hold it away from my body which takes away my leverage and makes it take some effort. Other than that I mostly just train against my bodyweight push-ups, pull-ups and the like. For me, it's something that's always in the back of my mind - I just fit it in whenever I can, it's not something I schedule x times a week for x hours. I enjoyed training martial arts a while ago, but I can't afford to pay membership anywhere right now. Training in grappling can be a very effective form of strength training if you put time into it. In general competitive athletics are usually more interesting than just lifting/running but require a few other interested people and some planning so it's not as simple either.

Of course adding muscle is a pretty difficult process compared to losing weight and diet plays a big part in it as well. There's a lot of people here I'd guess who could give more detailed information on that subject. I just try to eat a lot of everything especially meat, and that works for me.

But the best thing I can tell you is just not to be a lazy person. The kind of person who will drive around a parking lot three times to save themselves walking 20 feet, is just asking to be out of shape. If you look at something that takes physical effort as an opportunity rather than a pain in the ass, then you don't need to spend as much time doing things just for the sake of working out.

i cut my nails and clean them, however if a chick is looking for a peter pan to whisk her off to never never land she wouldnt be looking my way. if she wants a man with pure mochissmo , rough and rugged, built, professional looking and strong, and someone who will protect her physically and financially , then she came to the right guy.

i couldnt give a fuck if my european handbag doesnt match my shoes, cause i dont wear a fuckin purse. i keep my cash in my wallet or rolled up in my front pocket with the higher bills always on the inside. i do give a shit abt the way i look and how i present myself when dealing with business but couldnt give a shit abt my cuticles, i got bigger and better things to worry abt then interior design and split ends

I'm afraid of getting a massage because if it was a guy and I got an erection then I'd become gay.

He said massage, not a hand job.
