Help buying headphones

Hi guys. Im new to the headphone buying world and in all honesty I am totally clueless as to what to buy. I read the headphone sticky thread but there is so much mixed opinions in there i dont know what to pick. I am thinking about the sony v-6's but i dont want to regret buying them. So I am just looking for some suggestions on good quality sounding headphones in the 80-120 dollar range.

IMO can't go wrong with the technics models.

The main difference between the two is the size of the cup. The 1210s have a smaller cup that fit on the ear, the 1200's cups fit around the ear. The sound is phenomenal in both, and noise reduction is great. The durability in the 1210 is great (had a pair for 12 months now, no wear at all.) As for the 1200, unsure, am getting my pair delivered this coming monday. But I am sure it is like most technics products, great life length.

Hope this helps!

I'm a big fan of the older Technics headphones...Also, as much as people say they don't like them, I never had any problems with the silver Sony's.

how is the bass and treble quality on those techniques compared to lets say the v6's or koss and other high end brands.

Seriously...

And this is the best advice ever. Once you've done your research online, if at all possible, go to a store and try the ones you're interested in.

Well....

There has to be a local place you can go, a hi fi shop where you can go and figure out at least what ergonomics are important to you as far as headphones go...

Also, how much are you willing to spend? Do you do the one eared monitoring thing? Interested in buying and using a headphone amp?

yeah I was just throwing out all the good ones. But you should go and try them out in store.

You know you're a headphone addict when you start talking about headphone amps. Last time I heard that term was when I browsed through the head-fi forums

Actually wouldn't mind getting myself a set-up sometime, but its costly and very personal tastish...
