Question Termonology Question

Could anyone tell me what a "technohead" and "trancehead" is? Are these just names for people who like techno and trance, or are they cliques of people in the electronic music community?

Also I use the term "event" rather than the shunned term "rave"--for obvious reasons. What are the more modernized terms for people who go to "events"? Or do those terms even exist?

I can only imagine the looks on your face as you read this. I can hear you laughing now.

These are serious questions...I notice way too many details

Yeah, I try to call them events too. My friends (the non EDM-addicts) call em raves. I wanna slap them upside the head everytime they do.

And then sometimes I'll be talking about an event or something, and a person will always pipe up and go "an event?? WTF is THAT?" Then I have to roll my eyes and go "A rave. I go to raves. You happy now?"

Parties.

Trancehead = stupid 15 year olds who do too much E and sit in cuddle puddles and trip out drooling all over each other.

Technohead = Elitest fuck.

"Raves" are now called "Hoomagoomamablops"

Not specific enough. People assume house parties.

Fuckin eh is it really that hard?

I say parties, if they go what kind of parties I say a rave if its a massive or something, if its a nightclub or something like that I say nightclub or something... there good?

Now everyone please stop posting in this thread as it makes everyone on this board look collectively more stupid.

Thanks.

Yea, that does get annoying. I got flamed sooooo bad the first time I mentioned the word "rave" on this site. Never did that again....lol.

... taking anything a memeber of TA says personally, especially in MD is probably not the best way to go on this site... lol...

Seriously, only the elitests get mad if you call what by any other description would be a rave.

An all night, all ages party with EDM, legal or illegal is a rave, especially if the venue is not a traditional "music" venue, as in a sports center, exhibition center, or some other sort of large venue (yes warehouses included).

For example: Trance Energy = Rave, Innercity = Rave, or any of the other indoor ID&T events.

Now calling something like Mysteryland (is this still around?) or Dance Valley a rave is less common, mainly for two reasons. One they are outdoors, two they are during the day for the most part. These usually come under the name "festival".

Now here is where it gets tricky. If the event is all night and all ages, but held in a nightclub its a rave.

If the event is all ages, but only goes till normal closing time (depending on area this might be 2am-3am) and is held in a nightclub but is not in a series of events (like Gatecrasher's former weekend parties or Creams, or any other club that runs a weekly night) then its a rave.

If the event is 18/21+ and goes to a normal closing time or all night but is not in a series of events, then it is a rave (though this is controversial).

If the event is 18/21+ or all ages and in a long running series of events then its a clubnight ("I am going out clubbing").

There that should be enough bullshit (which it is, I made most of that up off the top of my head and is based on nothing but me being bored and spouting bullshit) for you people to catogorize and sort everything out.

I just say "Im going out for the night" or "Im going to see some DJ's spin" or something like that.

Jeez people use your fucking imaginations.
