Darey @ AHP oct 22nd Review

UnBELEIVABLE!! Set just kept getting better and better, one insane jam after another.. those 2 1/2 hours flew away and good crowd. Definetly a kick ass time.

okay already kinda posted review on i was rapped by bass but here goes, matt darey definitely showed up to entertain! i was a little skeptical as to how anyone could produce the energy that holden had just handed over to us but i was pleasantly surprised! he played probably harder than normal b/c of who he just followed but he was great, had the crowd jumping for 2 hours, very excited now that i will be seeing him again friday, he totally interacted with the crowd which i love, played some really great tracks that we all know i can't id and was just plain out fun!!!after his set michelle and i called him over to the front of the stage and he jumped down and signed autographs and took pics and talked to everyone, very cool guy and was very patient with everyone who wanted his attention. very great time at AHP. so glad i partook in this evening! great times i believe had by all!!!!

Fuck Afterhour Power.... I'm fucking tired of going to see DJ after DJ get kicked off, cut short, or have a giant black curtain in front of them before they are finished playing.

I Fucking hate afterhour power, no offense to Matt who played great tunes, but the people running the show seem to have no respect for anyone but themselves.

Here are some of the tracks he played during his <2-hour set:

Eternity
Close Horizon
Appears
Summer Dream
SOS
Sunset
Love Comes Again
Lyteo
I Want My MTV
Children Of The Sun

(with a bunch of harder tunes in between).

I also heard Cafe Del Mar from outside, but I don't know whether that was still him or the next DJ...

A typical Matt Darey set.

Extremely typical. He's been playing the same exact tunes all over the world for the past year in the same order yet he gets paid like a movie star. Much respect for Matt though as he's a great producer in my opinion, dawning from trance's earlier more prominent years, he has a solid production discography behind him and is a extremely humble and down-to-earth individual (I'm registered on his forum ), but for fuck's sake, have a little variation in your set. I'm no 'pro' DJ, but I can tell you when a fan is saying this it comes from the heart and means change. I guess you can get away playing the same tracks everywhere to anyone so long as they don't know who the fuck you are or what the hell you're playing. So many amateurs came up to me throughout the night and said: "Who's the DJ playing, man?" Come on, get real, if you're going to a goddamn venue paying to see these acts, can't you at least fucking know who you're seeing? I find it so irritating for some reason. At least have the common sense and use your brain God gave you to think for once. And I agree with Clovis, how disrespectful can a distungished venue be? I understand James' time-slot was up, but end it shortly in such an abrupt and rude manner? There was absolutely no class with what went down last night. And wow, the props and go-go dancers on stage during AAP, how unbelievably hilarious were they? There were two aliens with headphones, a chick dancer and a guy who reminded me of the wrestler "Gold Dust" from WWF. I haven't laughed so hard during a show since I saw Johan Gielen at Heaven last December and watching those announcers announce Tisto during his performances. Tisto! Do you guys ever notice how they announce him like he's Mohammed Ali or some Heavyweight Champion? Hysterical I say. Also, Matt Darey = Fabio's twin!

Matt Darey feat. Izzy - Eternity (some remix)
original I think, but not sure (any Tisto experts?)
yes

Ron van den Beuken

PS: Sorry for listing just the titles, but it's been a trying weekend for me... Also, I was outside for the last half hour or so.

I was seriously exhausted from going out Friday( heaven) working Sat., going to Spundae..and then Avalon.. EESH!!
Getting inside was pretty easy... once inside..it was the typical Avalon.. boys following you around.. dancing WAYYYYY too close..and too many wishhy wasshhyyy people around..I know I got smacked in the head a few times.. Sweetcandy girl and I found Carrie, Julia, Simon, Randy, Curly,Woody, and Keith, Clovis..so we danced in the safe group for awhile..then the After Hour Power Curtin came down... I was like WTF... since it was my first time at an actual AHP event...
Matt finally came on after a little bit.. and OMG!! He threw down some serious beats...HOLY SHIT! WOW! I wish I would have hand more energy to dance!! He kicked ass!!
I think we left around 730am.. I was ready for bed...!! But.. the party continued at Bob's... thank you Bob for letting us hang out!Always a good time...

My Pleasure!!

Everyone is always invited over afterwards....till I move in November!!

(This includes any non trance lovers like Clovis....)

I Had a good time but I have to say that I enjoyed Holden more than Matt Darey..

It was the most intense shit Ive ever heard, and I am now a believer!!!

Oh and I had a good time hanging out with my new friend Roxanne...

Wow, I'm impressed Bob...thanks for giving Holden a chance...

And yes...he did play some insane shit...def blew Darey out of the water...and LAVELLE was just a retard.

But I enjoyed what I heard of Darey aswell...its just not comparable to what Holden plays...James is on another level...

Phillipe...It was amazing.

The bass kept trying to bore into my head...My fillings were vibrating....

I had goose bumps, and the hair on my neck was standing up!!
