Joe Waters pres. Klear - Ocean Drive [Uplifting Trance]

A new direction for me, alot more uplifting and driving. Powerful. Good harmonies and synths. I'm not sure I like the piano so i'd be interested to hear what you all think on that.

Hey Joey

Really cool track here - very driving - the piano is very nice indeed - and i like that saw synth too. One think I would do is make the kick more prominent, but thats it . Excellent old Joey Waters style

Nice melody, the piano can stay .
But I think you've got to much mid freq's in the track, try to lower them some, and also the snare in the beginning of the track kinda erases the kick underneath it. But apart from that its fairly good.

Hey JoeyEnv,

This track got loooooooadss of energy. Really a big fat rollercoaster going on here. I would love to hear how you carry on with it, how the break evolves and the lead kicks in. This sounds like the build up so far or was it already the leadsection?

Anyways the mastering really needs some attention. Some good Eqng here and there, more highs, more stereoimaging on the various synths to give everything more a place of its own.

But really I love the energy in this, it ROCKS! Finish this mate. And the piano can stay

Cheers,

Nomen nescio

Thanks guys.

Nomen -- I always seem to struggle with mastering but i'm getting better as I go along.

1. I recognize the leadmelody... Used it in another track of yours...?
2. Yeah the mastering in this one sucks... Why? I thought you were getting better !!! I can hear that the bassline is taking a lot of space in the soundpicture...Try shortening the notes in the bassline to create more air for the track to breathe in! And also remember to lower the decay on the bass then...

Packed with enegry though, but as I said - I think I've heard this one before

I think I may of uploaded a sample of this on here before so that must be it Alex.

And I really struggle with mastering but hopefully I can learn as I go along.

this has nothing to do with mastering but the more with the mix down, mastering should be apllied when the track is practically finished with a good mix down. In this one, you got some really cool stuff going on but the mix down, compression and stuff is really nowhere even close to how it COULD sound. Kick is weak, it falls back all the time, that high synth is too loud, bassline takes too much space as alex said and some other stuff. But the energy and sounds u used are pretty bad ass in this one.

pretty much agree with Stijn in everything,

the ideas are great, just try to experiment more with eqing/mastering things, and this will rock, mate

keep it up,

Peter
