192kbps / VBR
hi guys
i have a question
what's the best bitrate? 192kbps or VRB because right here i read this:
PSYCZ INFO PSYCZ INFO .|::
::|  |::
::| |::
::| As time goes by, the world matures. PsyCZ has matured and the scene has |::
::| matured. PsyCZ started releasing in VBR over two years ago, and was met |::
::| with skepticism. As time went by, more and more realised that VBR is |::
::| superiour to cbr 192. Finally, in 2004, VBR is allowed by the scene. |::
::| PsyCZ will also in 2004 continue to bring you the finest psychedelic |::
::| trance music from around the world, as we have since 2001.
VBR best quality that 192kbps??
320kbps for the win!

Please delete, thanks.

Maybe because this thread doesn't make any sense or this thread is useless or maybe because the thread starter got his answer?
this is stupid
this has nothing to do with filesharing
he just wants to know which is better
just cause you saw a release group name doesn't mean it can't be discussed...
i know it's looked down upon, but is TA turning into nazi germany?
if you see a huge wad of cash in my pocket does it mean i robbed a bank?

Personally i dont think theres much of a difference in the quality. you have to be one picky mofo to complain about the quality at that rate. anything above 128 is fine to me
Yeah, if you look at most digital download sites on the net, they feature mostly 320/192 kbps CBR MP3s. The only site I know of that has the option for 192 kbps VBR MP4's is BeatPort, and i've listened to both and there is not a big difference really in sound quality. If there was a big difference, it would cost more, and really the only ones that they could feature that would be better are WAV or Flac files, and I guess Oog, Real Audio or WMA files sound slightly better. But really even those don't have that big of a difference. BeatPort is also the only site I know that offers WAVs, but it costs extra and you can't download them yet.

I dont want it if its not vbr or 320.
UWM, please if you don't contribute, shut up, thanks!
thanks for the answers, i was wondering to know
Most people can't tell the difference above 128, and fewer still above 192. 192 is as low as I'll go, but anything above that is just bonus to me. If every DJ in the world started playing everything in 192kbps mp3s, I don't think anyone would care except for an insignificantly tiny ammount of hardcore audiophiles.

bottome line: VBR > CBR (for mp3) by many leaps and bounds. anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what he or she is talking about.
It depends on what the VBR range is, and how old the encoder is...
