Its Finally Done - DarkSword's ALLFRUIT FLS Demo

Hey. I'm calling it good on this track. While I could have definantly added tons and tons more fill in stuff, I didnt write is as a song. This is soley meant to be a demo showcasing the sound that FLStudio has straight out of the box. The only plugin that I used that isnt included with FLS is BBE SonicMaximizer. All of the synths and FX were done using FLS generators minus the, already known, powerful Sytrus. I decided to leave out Sytrus, simply because its known as a pretty decent synth already. Instead, I focused on using things such as SimSynth Live, 3xosc, Pluck, and Wasp. The samples I used are all included in FLS (not the Big Beat pack, just FLS). Vocals are done and processed by me. I hope this will finally silent those who tend to say FLS has a crappy, amateur sound .

DarkSword - ALLFRUIT

FLP File (9.41MB - includes vocals)
[Sorry, you get you structure but I'm not giving away my percussion techniques . I've replaced the samples with MIDIOut dropins. Feel free to wire them to your sampler of choice or drop in your own percussion .]

Oh and one last thing. Please dont be lame and just rip shit out of this and plop it in your song. Learn why something sounds the way it does in the demo and then apply it to the sound youre looking for so that you can then alter it to your taste as well as actually knowing how it works . Enjoy .

Cheers,
Zac

Awesome job, man! Some very nice showcasing in here!

I really like the vocal processing done on this! I look forward to checking out how you did some of this.

Overall great job, I like it just as a song, outside of the fact that it's basically just made to show the capabilities of a program.

Glad to see things like this to help show that FL Studio is indeed a very plausible player in the producer software field. I've never really understood why people refuse to accept it. I guess a lot of it has to do with its origins as little more than a drum machine / hip-hop beat maker.

Just out of curiosity, I've never heard of this BBE SonicMaximizer. What is this? Some kind of mastering/compression tool?

Anyways, great job again man! I'll have to check out the FLP when I'm not at work.

I only heard it through crappy headphones but I have to say this is really good! Everything sounds great! You even managed to make Plucked sound half way decent.

I'm gonna take a look at the file later

Thanks for sharing!

Seems that the last several tracks I've listened to in the Amateur Producer's forum that I've liked have been FL Studio tracks! It sure has come a long way.

Thank you very much . I enjoyed making the a lot. I'm kind of random in the way I do stuff sometimes and this time I took a different approach. Instead of trying to stick to one main theme, I jsut said fuck it and threw everythign in together . Anyway, I hope you all enjoy is at much as I did making it.

Cheers,
Zac

Ah! This is the track that I immediately fell in love with the moment I heard it banging in my headphones , still would like to remix it (as soon as I ever have the time to lol)...

Very very creative work with all those melodies and note changes.

Like the non-cheesy vocals too.

and it is impressive that you did not use a "pro" VST/DXi Synth.

Nice work.

Good idea for a project dude, I guess you like a challenge The track is pretty nice and I must say I'm quite impressed with those synths.

Mastering is a bit heavy in the bottom end and its lacking a bit of sparkle generally, but if all you've used is fruity and sonic maximiser, and FLs eq and compressors, then good job!

You dont work for FL do you? j/k

The other day I bought an audio engineering book from Barnes & Noble to read on the plane, and the cashier was some asian kid (one of the ones you see doing "that" dance, probably), and he goes "what do you use, Pro Tools?"

When I said "Fruity Loops" he looked at me like I was crazy, and that I might be gay or something. I asked what he used and he goes "Pro-Tools and Logic", and had this arrogance as if I were some lowly fool with no right even purchasing a book on audio (especially since I'm a, gasp, Windows user).

I really don't understand how someone who actually makes music wouldn't know what Fruity Loops is... so my immediate reaction was that he probably was just showing off, typical LA style, and actually has no idea about sequencers and just heard the words "protools" and "logic" and decided that they sounded professional.

Anyway, nice post DS.

It still does sound a bit thin in some spots, but on the whole it's pretty tight. A lot of work has obviously gone into this track. Good work.

quite nice track, mate

eqing could have a bit more work here and there, but other than that, i really enjoyed listening to this one

keep it up, mate

Sounds pretty nice man. I don't like some of the percussion samples you've chosen, particularly the snare you have running throughout the track. A few of the synths are a little too fruity-sounding, but you've done a very nice job with the vast majority of the synth sounds in this one, particularly the lead-like thing that comes in around the 2:00 area. The melody and bass just seem really disjoint and random to me, but I seem to be the only one who feels that way.

At around 3:20ish that bassline gets rediculously cool.

The bassline at 7:30ish is freaking sweet too.

This track really covers a lot of different themes, but it definitely accomplishes what I believe you set out to do. There are a few things I would have done differently, but that's just a matter of preference. All in all a very nice job of showcasing what fruity is capable of.

This reminds me that I have another all fruity track that I started a few months ago and never finished, I'll have to dig that out.

Hey. Get ready for a second isntallment of ALLFRUIT. This time around, I'll be focusing on 3xosc, the simplest synth that comes with FLS. This synth is known for having aliasing problems but I happen to know some tricks that I think every fruity user should know. Some wstuff thatll make those Logic users at Armada shudder because of some of the shit it can do easily.

More vocals, stronger rythms, more constant theme, coming in a few weeks!

Cheers,
Zac

Very nice! I'm impressed with the sounds. I always knew that with the right amount of effort, someone could pull off sweet sounds with the basic stuff. People dont give FL Studio 5 enough credit. The program used to be no good, but its really improved. Cant wait to see what version 6 brings.

Posted by Bedlam-UK on Nov-30-2005 01:57:

excellent....reminds of planet funk (alex neri) type tracks. catchy tune....it's def on my play list.

Posted by SpecRadio on Nov-30-2005 20:20:

Send it into FL :P They'll use it as one of those sample songs

Good tune...really shows what fruity can do when you have a Sunfire 25k fully loaded so you don't max out on CPU moving your mouse around inside the window.
