Who else can't wait to play this puppy and sacrifice his social life for the next couple of months!?!?!

winter, beer, nuts and civ4 = awesome combo!

Posted by nils on Oct-27-2005 08:24:

hehe
is it that fun really? i had a friend who played civ like craaazy. kinda made him a bit reclusive mayby it's worth checking out atleast

Posted by Plump Funk on Oct-27-2005 11:36:

OMG yes, say oodbye to your social life is correct, i remmember playing for hours, would sleep while playing it then wake up playing it.
truly addicting i had to erase it from my pc so i wont play it.
my friends would go to parties and come back and all be still playing it, they would be WTF you're still playing , i'de be "yeah i reached the modern ages before any one else and queen elizabith wants to learn nationalism from me .

Oh man I love that game I just gotta make sure to not die so early on in the game. Remember have soldiers protecting your cities if not you are dead early on.

Posted by J.L. on Oct-27-2005 19:25:

wow, amazing game!!! seriously one of the best games i've ever played!!! totally recommend you to buy it, unless you have played civ 3 before and you really really really disliked it..

I am screwed for my midterms because of this game!

oh well

Posted by kypez on Oct-27-2005 21:32:

Yeah I already dedicate my life to engineering but il make an effort to play this for sure..

I never could get a good feel for strategy games

Posted by Cal on Oct-28-2005 02:26:

They should really contract out their 3D people modelling to someone who knows what they're doing, like Blizzard.

Look at this garbage:

Posted by wizniz on Oct-28-2005 02:32:

lame game in general.

go for aoe: 3

Posted by J.L. on Oct-28-2005 04:23:

well, since having played both aoe3 and civ4...

aoe3 is more for those who are lookign for a more casual type kinda strategy...

civ4's graphics aren't that great at all (although a huge improvement from before) but it's all about the depth of the strategy that makes the game so fun to play...

Posted by malek on Oct-28-2005 06:32:

graphics??!??! are you guys kidding me ?!!?

who gives a shit about graphics?

it could in monochrome and people would still go nuts over it.

aoe3 has nothing on civ4... sorry, it simply not the same thing.

This game is amazing, Ivee been playing for about 8 hours

Did anyone notice that Al Gore is the icon for the internet? Hilarious

Posted by malek on Nov-02-2005 06:16:

one major gripe i have against civ4, is the damn graphic reqs.

call me a purist, but why is my P4-2.8Ghz, 1G dual channel of RAM and 9600 pro 128 barely enough to run the game???

i can't even run it on my 1 year old laptop...

it is completely stupid and will block the game to many who want to play it bad!

the game doesn't need shiny 3d.

I had never played this game and I "bought" it yesterday. It's freakin addicting. I just want to get home from work so I can start a war or something.

yeah, i concur. runs like a dog on my similiar system. a bit disappointing.

that said tho, its the greatest strategy game ive ever played. so many options, so many ways to win. simply brilliant.

Posted by Reactic on Nov-08-2005 16:48:

just bought this game! I'm really excited cause I haven't played civII+III, let's see if it is still as addictive as civI and what have changed since civI.

Posted by Reactic on Nov-14-2005 20:29:

can someone help me? I've got a foreign town from another civilization which I don't want to build-up, because it is extremly undeveloped (3 inhabitants, my cities: 16 inhabitants), so I would like to remove it, but how does it work? it is possible at all? or do you have any ideas, what I shall do with this town. now it really has a bad influence on my civilization, before the town joints my civilization I've gained +7 gold per round, now I have +1..

thx

Did anyone try out the scenarios? I'm working on the WWII North African scenario as the Germans. I really love how they made the whole game customizable through plugins - really looking forward to some kickass user created content.

Agreed, they really outdid themselves, even after the numerous mod packs and maps avaliable for CIV 3. I've been playing the American Revolution scenario on Monarch which is a very tough scenario if anyone is interested.

haha. this is the first game ive played in a long long time that has the computer owning my arse.

you can give cities away thru diplomacy. if its converting by culture tho it might revert i guess. you can also choose to burn cities to the ground when you capture them. thus theoretically you could give it away then invade it, then burn it to the ground

someone got suggestions for expanding early on? im doing everything i can think of but im building fuck all cities, and when your neighbours have twice as many its hard to keep up.

Posted by Lover Boy on Nov-19-2005 13:37:

This game is ace, I even parted with currency because Sid deserves money for this!

Is cultural influence still part of this game? It was ridiculous in Civ III when your best cities would fuck off 2 another Civ, especially when you had enuf nukes to destroy the world stored in them!

Jeff Briggs - Christopher Tin - Baba Yet (main menu music)

Best menu song ever of any game! So glad I got the collector's edition for the same price as the regular because the song is on the cd.
