Where do producers get their vocals from

Do they just sit down and come up with some, how does the whole process begin, do they make the vocals around the synth or vice versa.

Producers who bring out a single with vocals who havent really attempted it before just make me wonder where they got the idea, is it out of passion , do they write the words or what ?

I love some of the stuff producers come out with vocal wise but i couldnt imagine some producers thinking it up from their previous non-vocal background.

They hire a rent-a-vocal like Justine Suissa or Jes Brieden to sing whatever she can think of at that moment.

they make a track and then call up justine suissa and then she adds vocals about bunnys, fairys and unicorns dancing in the sky around some ugly bird who is desperate because she fucked some man on her holiday and then the bloke got some common sense and never called her back and then left her out in the snow freezing her tits off

When are they not wasted? Don't you know techno dance trance is drug music and people only listen to it so they can take drugs?

If you're BT, you just get the vocalist to sing a load of shite, and then you put together a chorus from snippets of voice.

The freakishly talented bastard.

I may not be the best person to answer this particular question, but I do think that someone should answer this guy's question. It's a completely valid and intelligent question and he is just curious. It would be great if someone would take the decency and answer it, most likely someone who is a producer or has connections to the EDM industry.

it's there, in between all the lines (of cokeomgwtfbbq).
- they come up with their own
- they sample other works
- they hire a vocalist
- they collaborate with a vocalist, who then sings it
- they purchase an excerpts package

any or all of the above.

be careful bout the dresden comment guys, he might post a special farewell message. oh wait...

Aswell as too many people who find things that try to be funny actually funny.

On topic now:
Most vocalist think up the vocals. Jan Johnston usually sings about love and the atmosphere around it. I'm not too sure about the other popular ones.

ok. interview I did with Ricky Simmonds a year ago, behind some of the best vocal projects we've had - chakra/space brothers/lustral etc...

i:Vibes: Moving back into the producing category, you are widely regarded of being some of the best vocal music writers, with the projects like for example Chakra. How do you go about making a track that fits the vocals so well, do you write the music for them, or just add them over the tune like a lot of people seem to.

A: Trade secret. Not allowed to give it away. To be honest with you, we put together the music, and then write lyrics and melodies over the top it. It really is as simple as that. That does not mean it is easy or mechanical in any way. It always comes from the heart, and I think that is the key to it. Most writers and producers of a good standard can put together a vocal dance track, but if it is not written from the heart, it has no emotional resonance. On a personal note, I always try to write lyrics that mean something, and will never just add lines to make a rhyme work or fit a vibe for the sake of it.
