Can anoyone recomend me some good CDs?
I'd like to buy some CDs, but I dont know where to look. I like vocal-less trance, the kind that makes you think. the musical stuff, not just a beat (songs like ub devoid - way out west). even ambient stuff floats my boat. So does anyone think they can help me out?
i could but im lazy, browse dancegrooves.com
Rising High: Futurescape [Instinct Records, 1995]
ambient & trance on 2 CDs featuring Rising High Records artists. a real bargain @ Amazon
you can also try the Secret Life of Trance series from Rising High Records.
It seems like most of the music on dancegrooves.com is on vinyl
. I will check out those other CDs you recomended, Orange. Are there any more?
UNKLE - Psyence Fiction

get Tall Paul - Mixed Live 2nd Session
good shit
Second Sun "Inside Out" is something stimulating. I think you can get it at Virgin. Its also on iTunes.
Vandit, The Sessions Vol. 3
Nu NRG - Freefall
Sensorica - The Artifact (dunno if it's been released yet though)
Gatecrasher Red
Gatecrasher Discotech (Not Discotech Generation)
If you like uplifting trance, you would probably like these CD's. You could probably get most of these at ebay, amazon, or gemm.com
If you don't mind older stuff...
Ministry of Sound Australian Tour 1997 mixed by DJ Heaven
Tranceport
Union Jack - There Will Be No Armageddon

if you like ambient some good starters would be
organic records tsunami benefit cd - 3 cds. 2 psytrance. 1 ambient. i dont much like the psytrance stuff but its worth it for the ambient cd alone and the money goes to a good cause. so theres no excuse. if you want to listen to samples, go t chaos-unlimited.co.uk and check out these 'the egg - lost at sea' and 'kaya project - rise above.' thats a good entry point into the style because it has alot of musical elements to it, whereas it can often get much less musical, much more atmospheric.
if you like that stuff then you can go deeper into the ambient thing with something like amorphous androgynous - ephidrena. which is mindbending.
and if you like that then you can go for stuff like 'the orb - blue room' (all 40 minutes of it if you can find the single. otherwise get U.F. Orb and listen to the 17 minute edit) and 'global communication - 76:14'
the last 2 records just drift. great way to completely lose your sense of time.
Thanks for all the replys guys. I'm going to check all these recomendations out, because you can never have too many CDs!
def Tall Paul - Live @ Space
James Holden - Balance 005
way out west - dont look now
this is a two cd release. cd 1 has WOW artist productions and cd 2 is a mixed compliation. its very nice and chill
solarstone recently released a 2 cd mixed compilation. a nice mix of prog trance and trance tunes
anjunabeats compliations mixed by above and beyond. there are 3 volumes, and each is quite nice
tiesto's magik series are all excellent. i particularly enjoy magik 2
marco v - 200v if you're after the more banging sounds. can never go wrong with marco v
